Probably because it's directly proportionate.

mmmmm.... the zevrah. It's next on my list of thing to get for my e-peen. Just gotta drop by wal-mart and buy a game key to upgrade the trial acount with. Can't wait smile.gif

The game isn't difficult. At any stage. You can achieve level 70 in WoW with no talent at all by simply bashing the keyboard long enough.

Since the first expansion made all of the original content useless (and abandoned) and the next expansion will make all of the BC content useless. Why should people have to spend hours, even days of played time, longer in areas with no useful rewards and nobody else just to level an alt or catch up with their friends?
Redington
They do if they want certain loots. I know there's plenty of people that still farm Stratholme in chance of getting a Baron mount.

Same goes for other instances. But no, I don't think someone would solely stay in old content for no real reason.
Verbose
Yeah, but it's not good game design to force people to play through outdated content filled only with twinks.

Their making it easier to level isn't a bad thing. Removing all key chains was a bad thing. There should be a reason to progress through content linearly. BC had a chance to do that but welfare epics removed the need to do anything older than Hyjal.

CAN YOU!?

That is what I thought.

I agree. I always imagined how fun it would be if there was one continuous quest line from lvl 10 (or level 1, which ever you prefer) to lvl 70 (or lvl 80) and what it would entail. That would be kind of interesting but maybe irritating if they have some annoying stuff in it.

I'm well aware of recruit-a-friend. I don't consider that real leveling. Blizzard had made it easy before, but FFS, is that really necessary?

Honestly yes. If I get someone new to play now we can power level alts together and I get a sweet ass mount. If this had been around when my friends first signed up we would be raiding KZ (LOL KARA IS SRS BUISNESS KK) together now instead of him being stuck in his 40s.

That's not half as bad as some people, though. I know a few people that have seven lvl 70s or more.

As much as I would like to have that many, I wouldn't know what to do with them.

Don't worry, I play with a friend whom has 9 70s of each class.

He had to delete one 70 to make room for the DK

In my guild, four is a more working number. People will level up three for use in raids and one for PvP.

Although I do have a friend with three seventy druids. One for each spec, he says.

Blizzard effectively made max level become a huge $15/mo chat room. With game play while it's happening. Which is why people get 4+ 60s/70s and soon to be 80s. There is nothing better to do, and then, you get attatched to the characters because of the time you spend on them, not necessarily because they are fun. It's because you spent 8 hours in an instance instead of spending those 8 hours, being with family, or doing something for money. Just how I view wow, and people with more than 1 70, or more than 2 30+ alts.

Yeah, but that still doesn't justify it to me. That's like saying, it's ok to play leisure suit larry with your hot mom in law. To me.

Hey, for me WoW is more of a mental escape. Mind you, it took me three years to get a level 70, but I digress-- just because you play it doesn't mean you're being soul-sucked by it. I can say for a fact that you being on this forum is the same way. You're paying X amount of dollars for internet access somewhere and "chatting" on here with little else besides. So, the gameplay is justified.

Ok, and you can play mario with another player. Single play Mario. If I remember what all systems my friends used, I'll post how.

Anyways, I meant it more or less, you playing it, then her playing it, taking turns. Hence, play it with.
Sayuri Kajira
Regardless, I agree with my sister. Its not necessarily wasting time so much as it is just doing nothing for fifteen bucks a month. Yes, some people get sucked into it but, like the oracle says: "...everything in moderation, nothing in excess."
Redington
It's the same thing if you were to watch TV for 15 a month, only you get to actually interact with people rather than it being a one-way interaction. It has it's ups and downs, just like any other form of entertainment. So I don't see what you're trying to get at, Farix. If WoW isn't for you, then it isn't for you.
Triforceelf
Wow is like any other service you pay for: if its not worth the money for your, stop paying for it. Your not required to play wow or even try to play wow. If you think it is a waste of your time and money, then for you it is. For some of us though its not, and kindly dont try and tell me how to enjoy my spare time.

I'm both happy and reluctant to admit, I quit even private servers. .-. Repetition. I still think it's too great to rejoin retail, plus I'm poor anyways.

it's mostly the people that can't afford to pay for WoW by themselves or have no means to pay for it that think it's a waste of time.. or so i've noticed. Anyone who has played it, even someone who said they hated the game, thought differently within the first hour. if your new it takes 3 months or more to get to 70, i don't know any other game that would take me 3 months to get to the end. (and only cost 45 dollars!)

Quite frankly private servers are crap, plain and simple. If they were any good they would be shut down for stealing customers. As is they are simply a place for noobs to get ZOMG WARGLIAVES and do buggy instances that are not challenging at all because your in tier 6 and there is no scripts. But they still wipe because they have no skill. Trust me, real raiding is frustrating and satisfying and oh so much more fulfilling to earn those phat pixels instead of buying them off a vendor.

I can easily afford wow, myself. I hate the game, because, since I've played it since 2005, and have worked for blizzard, I've really kinda seen behind what goes on, and mine is strictly from a how blizzard treats their customers standpoint that gets me to dislike the game. Leveling is easy in WoW, leveling is also easy in WAR. I'm not arguing game mechanics or how it is against other games.
Vegos
Heh, I must say Blizz has disappointed me least of the major companies in the customer treatment department.

Show me a company that doesn't screw their costumers over at least occasionally and Ill show you a company run by Vulcans. Human nature is to screw up and Blizz manages that royally. However the fact that all their core games (Even some really old ones) are still selling like hot cakes means they are also very good at what they do.

Wow, I've been on the forums for this long and I haven't noticed the WoW thread? Me = /epicfail.

I've got (if I remember right) a 68 Blood Elf protection paladin, a 50 Night Elf subtlety rogue (both are on the US Nordrassil server -- I'm sure that server's been known for the most immature noob-calling at itself), and some lower toons. Also have a low-level priest on The Scryers server (that's role-playing). I'm quitting retail, though, until Wrath of the Lich King is released, just because fifteen bucks a month needs to go to my crappy car's gas tank right now ...

Free servers, though, are fun. But picking up a Kara group is hard ... :frown: Ah, well.

And even though I am fond of the Horde, battlegrounds suck ass. There. I said it. The end.

The only thing I enjoy about WoW is PvP, because the interface is fun. Unfortunately, no one I've fought yet has been up to par with the hardcore PvPers of pretty much any other game I've ever played. I've fought Runescapers with more skill than most of the WoW playerbase. ;[ I was really hoping to ding 70 and find a challenge in the arena, but WotLK will be out long before I get there, and I'll be in Navy boot by then.

I am almost afraid they wont delay the expansion. The beta still lacks alot of polish and with the limited time remaining we may see and end product that is not everything it could have been.
Rectifier
It never is look at the launch of the burning crusade it was a total cluster fuck for the first 3 weeks till blizzard got some repair patches in place. And it will be the same way with the expansion this time around on Nov 13th, but it will not stop people from climbing over each other at midnight to get it and play it for the sweet sweet reward of death knight killing sprees
