see, now you're just being rude. You are insulting not only my intelligence, but my personality, my experience, my honesty, and my argument. I didn't insult you. I asked you to kindly trust me when I say have experience in the matter. I Never said anything about all WoW players becoming like the cases I mentioned. You're extrapolating and turning my words into the thing you want to read. If you want to find an insult directed at you personally in a broad range of arguments, you are going to find one. I can't stop you from doing that. But I can ask you to think before you get angry at someone stating the facts of what he has seen.

I wasn't insulting you. I wasn't insulting anyone. I was stating the things I have problems with, and you decided to take that, in the utterly wrong context by the way, as an insult aimed at you.

I am not an ass, I do not attempt to sound like said ass, and I would appreciate it if you didn't extrapolate something just so you can fight with me about a video game. What you are doing is essentially the same as someone insulting an acquaintance, and then adding "god bless them" to the end so it doesn't sound like an insult.

You basically accused me of trolling, which I do not do, unlike you, because the minute you decided to insult me on a personal level, you trolled this thread.

Enjoy your game, but don't get mad at me for stating what I see.

I feel a bit silly doing this at lvl 50 mwaha.
First time toon-creator!

Ok lvl50 Fem Draenei Shaman on Argent Dawn
Elemental/Enhancement Hybrid, i likes my totems as much as i likes my DPS, which is something im improving on.
Since im doing ele/enhance im quite a few points away from dual wield (10 lvls anyway), but im aiming for maces, im quite attached and happy with twohanded maces atm as it is.

Ive not played for 2 months so my restedxp shuld be something to gawk at

Hate to break it to you, but rested state is capped at 1 level and a half. Quest experience is of course not a subject for this limitation.
Psilome
1 and a half levels is enough if you ask me, i dont want to lvl too fast, want to enjoy the zero guild responsibility

People get so addicted to their fantasy life that they forget to pay attention to their real ones.

And many people become addicted to alcohol and have similar problems in their life.

Having known a number of drug addicts of various sorts, I personally tend to blame a person's addiction on them. It's a case of will power. Some people don't have it. If they don't have it, what purpose is there in blaming the particular thing that manages to catch them?

QUOTE(Raven 2552 @ Aug 12 2008, 08:45 AM)
Plus, I've never been a big fan of the "become best friends with someone you've never even seen" club. I prefer real world interactions with people who have the same interests I do.

I find them more or less interchangeable. At this point in my life (mostly due to circumstance), I find it as easy to lie as tell the truth. As a general rule, I'm mostly honest to people I don't know - I save most of my lies for relatives - but it's amazingly easy to appear to be something else. Helps that I have a sincere face, I suppose.

My ability (and more appropriately, my willingness) to shrug a persona off or on has led me to an amazing conclusion! It doesn't really matter whether or not the people you're with are lying. If they choose to act in a way and you enjoy their company when they do so, what more do you ask? Two people spend fifty years together learning about the other and there will still be things they don't know.

If you happen to prefer one type of casual lying, fine. No concern to me. It's just that every persona is a simplified and therefore false representation of the person putting it on. Don't fall into the trap of believing either one is superior to the other. And before anybody says that more people lie on the internet, pay attention to the nature of those lies. Mostly the people doing it are playing bad stereotypes and are uninteresting, uninspired assholes. It's like trying to claim the internet is better because you never have to smell a person who never washes - it's not like you're going to hang out with such smelly people if you don't want to anyway.

QUOTE(Raven 2552 @ Aug 12 2008, 08:45 AM)
I know lots of people who broke up over it because their significant other wasn't willing to leave a raid group to go spend personal time with someone they cared about.

I hope I'm not the only one seeing an obvious response to this.

I know I'm a horrible, emotionless bastard but surely you are willing to make these concessions if you care about people. So it follows that if you don't make the concessions, you don't care.

QUOTE(Raven 2552 @ Aug 12 2008, 08:45 AM)
So before you accuse me of "looking bad", stop and think that maybe a college educated man with personal experience in the game knows what he is talking about.

You were more or less accused of a type of bigotry, as I read it. Considering you had simply and calmly rubbished a hobby - and by extension all the people who participate in said hobby - with little to no explanation, getting on your high horse because you do actually have a more nuanced opinion than "nerds!" is a bit rich.

Speak like an asshole all you like but don't get upset when people assume you're an asshole if you do it.

Question... when did you people stop talking about WoW and get so engrossed in yourselves? Hello. We're discussing pixels here. Okay... back on topic before my favorite thread gets mowed over by the Mods.

I want WotLK to hurry up and get out of the beta stage... dagnabit.

i like that cause the tauren are cows lol
Sayuri Kajira
Space goat... Goat cheese? ...Sorry, bad pun. Okay. So, yeah, everyone is looking forward to making a Death Knight, but I don't really see what all the fuss is about. Is this all really hype? Thoughts?
Blue
All the hype is different gameplay, OMG.

That, and they're switching back from High fantasy to Gothic. o.o

Which makes it look awesome. I'm ashamed that I thought so. Dx

I'm glad I made someone laugh (or giggle).

Anywho, I'm hoping you're lvling that priest as shadow right? For the love of god and all that's holy (and Richard) please say yes.

Although, shadow isn't really lvling shadow until you get past lvl 30ish...
reader
i plan on it and then changing to holy once i get high enough to run with a tank
Redington
I see.

I can't seem to get in the mood of lvling alts any more. Probably because I don't want to spend too much time on WoW i.e. get more addicted than I have in the past. I'm sure the expansion is going to change that somewhat.

im a fairly new player (started at the end of april) so the novelty hasnt worn off yet. since TBC races are new to me, im experiencing new areas so im having fun biggrin.gif

i wish i was leveling my lock, but my friend who im leveling her with cant play his toon for like another week, so i either go ahead of him (more than i already am) or i play other ones until he catches up

It would be just terrible for a thread to be consumed by a more self-indulgent line of discussion, I agree.

Besides, there's only so much you can discuss in terms of WoW. Without new people or new issues to discuss, everything gets said pretty quickly.

Fine then I'll take yours. That would be great.

Obviously you don't realize that the ZA bear mount is more badass than any of those bear mounts that will bein in the expac.
Verbose
I think his point is more that he doesn't want a bear mount because they're ugly.

The fact that this bear mount is more badass doesn't really address the issue.
Redington
Shush Verb. You don't have to always spoil the fun... sad.gif
Jaezelle
Meh. I can agree- the bear mount is ugly. But... It's also one of the most badass mounts ingame. Surpassed by the fire pheonix which drops from alar and the spectral tiger from the tcg. I love mine(yeah, even though it's ugly. and fat. Sometimes I have to dismount to get by obstacles.

As for wotlk and DK's..... Right now.. they're... just amazing. The kind of "is anybody watching cause I want to touch myself right now" amazing. I haven't even leveled mine up to the max lvl available in the beta yet and I am having a blast with it. It carries so much pwnsauce with it right out of the starting area that it's mind boggling. Well, it might not be that amazing if you play anything except a holy priest. But for me... just wow. I can't wait for the x-pac to hit.

Unfortunately.... northrend also carries the same level of wow. If you've checked the links I posted a couple pages ago you'll have gotten to see a few screenshots. For me, I like to enjoy the scenery. And some of the scenery in northrend is amazing. And it's not just the big things like the northern lights that they put in. It's the little things, too. The packs of wild animals that roam around, the skeletons of dragons littering the landscape in areas, the sheer scope of the place.

Overall, I'm incredibly impressed with their work and am glad to be a part of the beta to help get the bugs worked out. I can't wait till it comes out public with all the finishing touches and whatnot.
Redington
Actually, the Phoenix mount drops off of Kael'thas...

Ashes of Al'Ar drop off Kael'thas Sunstrider. And it's quite a feat to kill that guy, really....besides, everyone WANTS to kill that guy because he's such an emo idiot but he's quite a formidable opponent at the same time....I like hated him since TFT...

Blasphemy! The felbunny > all!
Jaezelle
uck. same difference. it drops from "that one place". I've only ever seen one of them.... and that was like- months and months and months ago. I think the guy either quit playing or server transfered.
Vegos
Just saying, Al'ar is a pretty easy boss once you understand him. Kael is a tough bugger even when you understand him, and downright impossible when you're still learning.
Zoran
It fills me with joy that people do there very best to be the first one to correct a person as if they will win something. Fun fun.

But on another note, a few friends of mine have been power leveling our way on a Horde PvP server. And I have to say I am surprised at our order of quests and grinds. We got to level 52 (Might hit 60 today) in a total of 24 hours playing time. But the gang and I agreed to get to level 60 and create another alt, so far my Tauren (yes a tauren) shaman is my first, I plan to create a mage named the one and only richard. Yes he is a warlock in the comic but warlocks cannot kill with cold on WoW now can they? Thought so.
So lemme see here... Shaman, Mage, Druid (Hopefully Moonkin <3), and then a hunter that I plan to all get to 60, then reach them to 70 in a short time and have them farm dailies for the WOTLK content. I needs uber monehs dawg. But sadly my 70 night elf balanced druid will be sitting there all lonely and such. As the Horde is reclaiming the lands of the Zoran.

I find it quietly amusing when people are condescendingly superior to others and don't know or don't acknowledge it.
yoshida
OK strategies. I'm a bit of a starter (3 chars around lvl10).
When two enemies of equal strength attack you, focus your attack on one enemy. If he dies before you're down to less than 33% of your health points you still have a chance of beating the other one. It becomes more complicated with more enemies at the same time, but if they're not of equal strength always go for the higher level enemy first.
Sayuri Kajira
Best strategy: Carry health potions, mana potions, a Paladin, a Priest, a Druid or a Shaman with you. (Those who are specced Holy or who have enough know-how to actually heal someone)
Verbose
Best strategy is to roll a druid or a warlock.

Druid in bear form runs on rage and can heal himself inbetween any necessary fights making downtime a thing of the past. Warlocks are even simpler because you can just pet-tank one and chain-fear any extras. It's a bit of a stretch but a warlock can beat three elites a level or two higher than him at once.
Sayuri Kajira
Warlocking like that depends mostly on your spec. If you're specced Affliction, sure. But if you're specced Destruction, you can just AoE the hell out of them, after chain fearing them. However, if you're specced Demonology, you just better hope you have a mana pool somewhere.
Verbose
I always levelled as a demonology spec and I never really had that many problems.

Felguard made it easier though, because those can tank through DPS so long as you don't shadowbolt or anything.
Sayuri Kajira
I was always more influenced by Destruction. Something about being able to burn an entire group of people into a circle of death is amusing to me.
Redington
My warlock is only lvl 23. He's affliction spec atm I think.
