What we still don't know is if this feature will come with a race change or not. It seems unlikely since they've said themselves that race changes would be a coding nightmare. Not to mention it would be a bit unfair to Horde shamans wanting to become Alliance, or Alliance paladins wanting to become Horde, or druids on either side.
And that's what I'm dreading, the idea that it won't have a race change. I won't mind Dwarves on the Horde, but I will mind fighting beside Night Elf huntards, Gnomes that I cannot punt, Humans with Goku hair (only rarely do you find a Human on my server without Blood Elf hair), and female Draenei shamans named Bootylicious (yes I have seen one by that name, and it seems like EVERY Draenei on my server is a female shaman). And I'm sure allot of Alliance aren't thrilled by the prospect of Blood Elf death knights coming to their side.
Eh, maybe I'm just looking at this from the wrong way. Sorry if I'm coming off as a brat, but after spending a year telling peaple "Blizzard has said no, this will not happen" only to have them do it, it gets to you.
Edit: Disregard all this. I just popped into MMO-Champion and they had a Q&A. Apparently you will be changing races. Well takes a bit of a load off my mind. I don't think I would stand seeing a Gnome and not being able to kill it.
I personally have no idea why people thought that your race stays the same when you switch factions. I instantly thought that you select a race when you transfer over, and can only pick the race that your class can become. For example I have a Dwarf Paladin, if I went horde I could only be a blood elf paladin. But if I had a BE paladin and went alliance, I have the choice of being Human, Dwarf, or Draenei.
I came to be right when they updated their post on the WoW forums.

Well this news is about a week old, but I'll post it for those of you who are late to the party.
Not long ago, Blizzard filed a patent for Cataclysm. What does this mean? Well, for people who aren't that into lore, the Cataclysm is better known as the Sundering. You see, Azeroth was once a single continent, like Pangea. But when the Well of Eternity was destroyed, it ripped that continent into three seperate landmasses (known today as Kalimdor, the Eastern Kingdoms and Northrend). The place where the Well once was still exists. A never ending whirlpool of pure magical energy that we call the Maelstrom.
Some people are saying that this is evidence that Blizzard is in the midst of creating a Maelstrom expansion. If this is true, then we can expect a number of things: Queen Azshara as the main baddy, a possible appearance by Sargeras, and perhaps Deathwing (Blizzard has pointed to the idea of opening up Grim Batol as a raid with Deathwing as the final boss). I've also heard rumors of Malfurion coming out of hibernation, and playing a large roll in the story. Probably as big a roll as Tirion does now.

Level 80 Blood Elf DK, Cenarius server.
I'm REALLY hoping that is Bliz does a Maelstrom expansion, they'll keep Malfurion in hibernation. I'm expecting some major Blood Elf leader for the Maelstrom, given the race's history with both the Naga and large magical energy sources, but if Malfurion comes back not only will that not happen, but it'll get much harder to do an Emerald Nightmare expansion, which I am personally hoping for. With Malfurion staying in the Nightmare, he'll be poised to lead the fight against whatever is messing with it, but having him leave will either raise questions about why he left it without solving the internal issues there (which would screw up the lore, seeing as the Dream/Nightmare is vital to Druids as the site of their hibernation and he's the highest Druid out there) or mean that it's been fixed already and we'll NEVER see the expansion.
On a somewhat related note, does anyone know the lore behind Grand Magister Rommath? He just kinda stands around all day, with no dialogue or quests to give, yet he's a raid boss on par with the City Leaders. He'd probably be a natural candidate to leave Silvermoon and lead the fight against Azshara, unless someone knows something I overlooked in the lore?

As far as I can tell he's either one of a few things:
An advisor to Lor'Themar.
A powerful mage helping to run Silvermoon.
Or, as some have speculated, an emissary sent by Kael'Thas himself.

Like I said, it was just a rumor. No need to get your pants in a bunch.
Rommath originally went to Outland along with Kael'thas. He came back to Quel'thalas, begrugedly I might add, on Kael'thas' request to tell Lor'themar and the rest of the survivors about Kael'thas' plan to harvest raw magic from Outland. It's a pitty really, because his WoWwiki page said that he was fiercly loyal to Kael'thas. So there was a missed opportunity to flesh out his character when Kael's Felbloods attacked the city and kidnapped M'uru.
At this point in time he acts as the leader of the Magisters. A group made up of all the mages and warlocks of Quel'thalas. Their chief duty is to watch over the dispersal of magic, and make sure every Blood Elf gets only as much as they need. No less, and certainly no more. Because, as I'm sure you're aware, if a Blood Elf gorges himself on magic, he turns into one of the Wretched. And basically, that's what the magisters are there to prevent.

I had a week's vacation for the 4th (beach, beach, and more beach FTW!) and a move straddling the vacation. In that process, my computer has decided running WOW in any capacity means my graphics card needs to over heat ridiculously, and burn a hole in the floor. It will also freeze or blue screen at this point.
And also helped my sister move as all her friends bailed on her, so Tuesday (my first raid night back) was skipped, and as i found my computer is a jerk, Thursday was skipped. Hopefully tweaking and cleaning have fixed the problem... will have to see.
My guild is apparently progressing well without me (Hodir down in 25 man, moving on to Freya/Thorim).
Sigh.
But ranged dps is sucking at about 4k tops, so I'm looking forward to getting back, and just all out dpsing for first place (forget off healing and CC as needed, you bastards, you can suck an egg!) Ele shaman ftw!

Started playing my hordie alt again. Got my BE lock to 26, trying to push to get her to 30 to get her mount. After leveling a ton of alliance toons, the different quests for the horde are really refreshing.

On a different note, I tested myself on a dummy last night. Without anything but my own self buffs, no food, no flasks etc, I was able to do 2k dps. I checked my DoT uptime, and it was seriously lacking. Any locks have any ideas on how I can optimize that without using an add-on?

I'm a 4k+ DPS pushing shadow priest (less not in a raid - I haven't checked non-buffed in awhile). I'm all about dots.
I do use macro's. Some shadow priests go bat shit over it (cause it's Bad or something), but if I can macro and not be forced to stare constantly at CD's I can pay more attention to the fight and actually not die to fire and encoutner events that make other SP's do no DPS due to death heh.
I don't know jack about Warlock rotations, but If you lay out what you do I might be able to help you figure out something.
These are what I use for shadow priest pew pew:
START MACRO (only use START MACRO with MAIN ROTATION MACRO on BOSS fights)
/castsequence [nochanneling] reset=combat vampiric embrace, vampiric touch, mind blast, devouring plague, mind flay, shadow word: pain, mind blast, shadowfiend, mind flay, shadow word: death
MAIN ROTATION MACRO (use anytime by itself, trash, multiple bossess. Manually apply SWP at 5 stacks)
/castsequence [nochanneling] reset=target vampiric touch, mind blast, mind flay, mind flay, mind blast, mind flay
/cast devouring plague
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()
BLOODLUST MACRO
/castsequence [nochanneling] reset=target mind flay, mind flay, vampiric touch, mind blast, mind flay, shadow word: death, mind flay, mind blast, mind flay
/cast devouring plague
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()
When i get about 200 more haste I can probably drop another Mind Flay into my main rotation macro...but these work fairly well. Sure I can loose DPS, but it's DPS I'd loose anyway because I'm moving, being behind a tick or two from a dot because the macro is behind because I had to move doesn't bother me excessively. Sure if I have to move for awhile I'll manually weave my Mind Flay/Mind Blast/DP spells untill my Vampiric touch start to fall off then restart the Main DPS macro.
Building a warlock macro should be a bit easier than mine, unfortunately for us SP's we have no rotation, just priority. We actually have to weave our spells some which means hard stareing at CD's. I'll take the 100 - 200dps loss from macroing if it'll allow me pay attention to the fight more closely personally.
Also I'd suggest getting a dot tracker like Class Timer.

Jul 15 2009, 10:07 PM
from what I've read the standard rotation is:
SB, Haunt, UA, Cor, CoA then SB spam until time to refresh
I dont like leading with SB because I pull a ton of aggro with it, even when I give the tank a chance to get aggro, so I like to use:
Haunt, CoA, Corr, UA, trinket (when available) SB, then SB spam until time to refresh.
I have the trinket set up as a macro to go off and then cast a SB.
As long as I keep haunt up, I dont have to recast Corr. I also have CoA glyphed so that it lasts longer, thus does more damage.

You don't have build up other dots or wait for other classes debuffs on mobs/bosses to increase your dots you probably won't need a "starter" macro as intense as a SP's.
hrm.. I'm trying to work out the math for dot refresh times. It's a bit annoying really.
What are the tick times for each of your dots? CoA 25sec? Corr 18sec? unless Haunt stays up... UA 15sec? And SB's are 3sec each.
Maybe something like this:
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()
/castsequence reset=25/target Curse of Agony, Corruption, Haunt, Unstable Affliction, Shadow Bolt, Shadow Bolt, Shadow Bolt, Shadow Bolt, Shadow Bolt, Shadow Bolt
Based on your haste will in theory dictate how many SB's you can in there before the macro restarts. You may need more, or you may need less.
The reset=25 is currently telling the macro no matter what to restart after 25seconds (when CoA should be falling off) This is where I'm not sure how well this will actually refresh the other dots. It's possible that by sliding SB's between your other dots IE
/castsequence reset=25/target Curse of Agony, Shadow Bolt, Shadow Bolt, Corruption, Haunt, Unstable Affliction, Shadow Bolt, Shadow Bolt, Shadow Bolt, Shadow Bolt
The dots will refresh a bit closer to their drop off time. I'd have to fiddle with it some honestly. Unfortunately my lock is only lvl 45 so there's not toooo much testing I can do myself with this macro. It probably needs tweaked quite a bit to find that perfect rotation.
also, it's early and I spilled my coffee instead of being able to drink it. So my brain feels like mush lol.

I will have to look when I get home tonight to see how long my spells last and how long it takes to cast my SBs
You also get to take into account the nightfall procs that give me an instant SB.
to help you a bit, the initial cast sequince is not usually repeated after the first time. and since they nerfed affliction pretty bad, the rotation is cake. it is just a matter of making sure i dont clip dots and keeping them up as much as possible.

I so suck at jousting.
~#~
The level 20 mounts won't help my 35-80 toons on Moon Guard, or a couple other servers where they're 30+, but I did manage to level one paladin to 20 on one server, so maybe it will help her (though not in RFC or SFK) for the class quest.
The one good thing will be the lower mount prices. Two, actually, with hte faction discount on flight training. The lower mount prices will help too, in order to make that 10 mount achievement. Nto that the prices stopped one of my rogues, Moonstryfe (on Mono Guard) from making it. The bug mounts from AQ40 helped, though I kept passing on the red one, mostly because we had people without bug mounts and wanted to get at least one for everyone before they changed the drop rate. 3 bug mounts, plus two horses, a raptor, a hawkstrider or two, a wolf or two, a kodo... Yea. Her tenth was the flyer. No epic training yet, though. Maybe when she gets rep with the Knights of the Ebon Blade... She can hit the dailies till she can affrod the training, and then save up for the skeletal gryphon.

I'm actually pretty good at jousting. On Champion's especially I can normally kill 3 of them before I need to heal up for the fourth.
Unless it's laggy, then I do in fact get the crap kicked outta me sometimes.
I only need like 20 more badges from the Tourney to buy the flying tourny mount. Just haven't really had the motivation lately to do the daily's.
Between school starting back up and what not, normally when I log I've been hoping on my 76 warrior to lvl her. I might get her to 77 then wait for the patch, so I can get the cheaper flying mounts. Back during BC I got her to lvl 69 and didn't lvld her to 70 till after WoTLK. So she never got the flying mount skills at all.
Suppose if she hit's 77 before the patch (which she will) I'll focus on playing my next highest toon my lock who's lvl 45.

Jul 17 2009, 01:50 PM
Ha. I don't think I'll ever get the jousting down, so no Chillmaw killing, except for healnig the group. I'm actually surprised that I managed to progress to Valiant. I do the dailies wvery once in a while. Mostly I've done the Kirin Tor cooking and fishing (and even the JC, on my DK).
Two level 80 priests, here, my DK is the next highest, she hit 76 last ngiht, my rogues are 73 and 71 (not counting the 34 Ally one, or the other wee ones who are around 14), mages are 38 and 71 (not counting the wee ones: I tend to start rogues and mages at the same time. Hey, someone has to make the bags, right?). My lowest on my home realm us a 33 droo. I have a 40 shaman along with my two 71s on Sisters of Elune (took advantage of the free character transfer with the shammy to make room for my DK, and ended up moving Arrandia and Nozumi over, because Phrantic moved over, and the sisters kind of, sort of, have a thing going on with him, so...). And yes, Moon Guard is an RP realm. Not that I've ended up doing a lot of it, even though that's the primary reason I chose Moon Guard in the first place (and which explains why I had to start Moonstryfe, my Moon Guard rogue, and Moonstryke, my Moon Guard mage, because I missed my mains). Still...
But jousting...? Heh. I fail. Totally. At least the dailies have given me a little Sunreaver rep, here and there, as well as the Argent.

Well here's some news I ran into. It seems that four new Hallow's End masks are being added in the next patch. One set was Goblin (both male and femal), nothing special there. Goblins have been in Warcraft since Warcraft II. But the other set of masks is a male and female Worgen.
Check it out. Some are speculating that this is evidence that these two races will be added in the next expansion. Likely Goblins for the Horde and Worgen for the Alliance.
Goblins have been a part of Horde military expeditions in the past, but this has become more obvious in Northrend where you can find Goblins working with the Orcs just about everywhere. Why, it was even Goblins that built Orgrim's Hammer, the Horde airship above Icecrown. Plus, the Alliance needs to learn the pain and humiliation that comes with being killed by something that's only as tall as your shin.
Worgen may also make sense for the Alliance, since, like the Night Elves, they are seen as children of Elune, the Moon Goddess. They were even summoned to this world by the Night Elves through the use of the Scythe of Elune to combat the Burning Legion. And there's also the argument that, since the Horde got a "pretty race" the Alliance needs a "beastial race".
Just something to think about.

That may even make it worth playing an Alliance toon, if that's the case. The Worgen are cute.

So, how do you think the goblin and worgen DKs will look?

I got to watch my boyfriend and his guild attempt to take on Malygos. For three hours. They failed all four times. Apparently his DPS is a bit too low and they need another one beside him.
