Kind of. But I think the difference is supposed to be that in the "Pisses me Off" thread we name things that make us mad and why.

A "Rant" thread is where we can go on and on at length about one annoying subject in particular.

Jericho. Why? Those of you that watch it, remember a few weeks ago they killed off Bonnie.

I'm still mad about that. She was my favorite character, and they turned her into a plot device! Not cool, writers, not cool! I understand why they did it, and why she was an option for them, but still. She was awesome.

Love how she went out, though. In a blaze of gunfire! Not so much a blaze, but a deaf girl killing three to four trained mercinaries before the leader-guy shoots her? Epic.

Rather short rant, but it's cooled off over time, and after having expressed it to about five different people five different times.

The hurt will remain, however. Just like Tonks. Which is another point I should make! Why kill Tonks? You killed off enough people, Rowling, why her? Tch.

Why do people freak out when you get a worksheet in science class done in less than 5 minutes? I mean, seriously, we've gone over the material 10+ times since Easter break ended, I think I know it by now! -.- It's not that I'm impatient, it's that I write and think very fast when it comes to working intently on things.

If I have no inspiration to work with, I will not do things in less than five minutes.

I also don't like teachers who think that because you work fast, you didn't do anything right and they give you a poor grade on it, then you compare it to another smart kid's paper and they got the same answers as you.

People who refuse to read signs. Christ, I want to hit them. You have to run into the LARGE sign to get to the window. How hard is it to read: 1130 - 1330 ? If you're unsure of what time that is, ask. I'll gladly tell you. Don't act surprised what time we don't serve you when the sign has been there since fucking Korea. How can you miss it? HOW?! I don't get it. How can you be that stupid and still survive? Why haven't you died off yet?

Okay I'm going to rant a couple days early because I'm kinda pissed.

What the fuck is the deal with prom? Yeah, I know "it's the dance where the juniors and seniors can be alone together." And "It's one of the most important times in your life." Yeah, I got that but why do we have to dress up so goddamn much? It's a fucking dance! You know what people like to do at dances? DANCE! So WHY are you making me wear these goddamn shoes that feel like fucking bricks on my feet? If prom is supposed to be so much fun then you should dress for it. You should wear clothes you can actually move in goddamnit! I can't fucking dance in a tuxedo! Good as I look in one, they were made for waiting at the altar for your bride to show up. NOT for dancing with someone who chances are if you weren't already dating them, you're only there with because you needed a date? If you're not going to be serious with this girl then why dress up so much for her?

It's such a "big deal" because it lets people feel like America is still the home of warm apple pie and wholesome family values.

It'd probably be a good idea for some places to start mimicking our system. We don't have a Prom, we have a Formal (or if none of us can be assed, a semi-formal). Basically, it's an excuse to throw a big party to let the girls dress up and pretend like the guys care, just like prom, but it has less of a cultural requirement. We have two or three in the last few years of school and they're scheduled whenever enough students think it's a good idea.

American schools have too many dances.

/me hates people in general, except the few exceptions.

I mean, *grumble* I BLOODY HATE it when people start questioning my behavior by trying to give me a guilt trip and question my dignity. They don't really know just how undignified I can get with them, if such situation arises...

Halloween Party
Homecoming 'Ball', it's really stark-raving fancy and it's scary. O_o
And we don't call our major dances proms, for some reason they've been called formals. Even the senior ones are called formals.

Doesn't matter to me anyway, as I'll never get to go for stupid reasons.

I have a Corpsman Ball coming up... bleh. I'm not looking forward to it. I'm one of the key people to be attending and I hate my dress. I look like Carrie crossed with a bastard Disney princess. I wanted to wear my slinky black cocktail dress but nooo~ it has to be excessively formal. We're going to the Coronado Yacht Club and its supposed to be the creme de la creme of places. I've been there once. A glass of cheap wine is forty bucks! It is annoying. I didn't want to go! Naturally, Eric is forcing me to go because not showing up would be a stomp on 120 years of tradition. I just think he wants a reason to parade around in his new wool tuxedo. Fuck the puffy sleeves! I'm wearing my cocktail dress. Everyone else can suck it. Suck it long and suck it hard.

Holy crap... Where i live we do not have really any big upitty get togethers, and no prom we just call it dry grad.
and generaly it is a casino and dancing and even then most people i was friends with in high school didnt pay more than maybe 100 for a dress... though there are those screwed up people who spent more.
But wow that all has to suck... the money ... and then dealing with the people. I like to live how i like to live, and Value Village is my friend.

Not a big deal, i mean i didnt go either of my years and i didnt feel i missed out on anything. Most guys i know said it was boring and most girls said they hated it how all the guys treated them like peaces of meat.

Now something that bugs me, yesterday i just started a new design studio for school, so like on most first days we all just get together and get to know the program and who we are going to be working with. Well anyway, it turn out there is this girl in my class with a kid. And apparently, she doesnt do daycare so he gets to run around and do whatever in the class all day while we try to work. I mean bringing a dog into studio is one thing but a kid?! Now i have to watch my language and all that bull shit. I understand day care can get expensive but come on people.

Yeah, but its in an uppity neighborhood. For whatever reason, they think we need to have a fancy ball. I really don't want to go.

So just say fuck tradition and stay home.

Tell that to the person dragging me there kicking and screaming. He promised to make it up to me by taking me to RSS, but that won't cut it. I want a new surfboard, damnit!

Just give people awhile, Verb. It takes time to find something purely irritating. Also, many of the greatest rants were very short.

School budget cuts in California, are you serious??? The "Governator" just signed a proposal taking away about 8 million bucks from our high school alone, and that's ridiculous seeing that he used the idea of the empowering of schools and students to get into his position. The school's councilors, librarians and most teachers are being fired, because there isn't any money left, so the slower kids in our classes are pretty much screwed as far as the govronment is concerned. Atleast the student council understands what's going on, so that we can rid ourselves of the title of "The Apathetic Generation" who couldn't tell an impeachment from a holiday. The money will have to be made back with donations, or at the tax payer's expence, and I don't even fully understand what they are using all the money on. If I hear any of that "War effort" crap I'm going to form a petition to get the governor deported....

Think that's bad? My school has NO funding. Period. We have to earn all ours, and even then half of our fundraisers are now forbidden because they're food-based.

I get so freaking p.o.ed whenever I see someone post a Naruto RP that isn't even canon. Yes, I'm in a Naruto RP myself, but it's set during the Chunin exams and therefore we know what we're doing. Whenever I see an RP that looks like this and nothing more:



Let's break this travesty down bit by bit, shall we?

First off, it's meant to be a Naruto RP, yet she's got a character that is a near-direct ripoff of the main antihero of the anime Elfen Lied. You DO NOT CROSS TWO ANIMES THAT DON'T MIX. At all. Neither anime looks alike, sounds alike, period.

Second: Religion doesn't appear to exist in the Naruto world, so that was rather pointless.

Third: NO AMINALS. Animals. Whatever. There are no wolf demons, and fox demons aren't slaves in the Naruto world as far as any of the episodes/manga have revealed. End of, no worming your way around it. If you're going to have a half-demon or full-demon character - like Gaara, or Naruto himself for example - do it in such a way they're not complete and total Sues/Stus!!!

Fourth and Final: THERE IS NO FRICKEN PLOT. Where's the plot?! WHERE IS IT?!?!!??!

Whenever I see RPs like this, I want to beat someone to a pulp.

I always consider it a "get the hell out" sign when youre in a rp and suddently some anthro dragon comes in or some anthro cat...i mdean my god you have the entire bloody animal kingdom real and fantastic to choose from, why must you always pick the painfully overused and unimaginative dragon/cat? what the heck ever happened to being human anyhow? (albeit there are a few rpers who can compensate the cliche with their rping skill, but they are rare)

Rant topic: Mankind in general


Subtopic 1: Hypocrisy

Why is it that hypocrisy is so apparent to me, and yet, the humans on this planet seem to embrace it as though they're completely oblivious to it? Why do pet lovers support PeTA when they want to eliminate pets through "total animal liberation"? Why do supporters of PeTA protest Animal Rescue shelters because "they kill poor helpless puppies and kittens" when PeTA kills over 2/3 of the animals they take in?

Also, why is it that no one calls the certain civil rights activists on their hypocrisy? If you fight for equality, then it should be equality on all things. If a white man cannot say the "N" word then neither should a black man. If one can't, then both parties cant. If you preach equality, but say one party can say said word, and another cannot, you're practicing domination. That is a pure case of hypocrisy. Personally, I don't care which way it goes, as long as one of the two is chosen. If I was forced to choose, I'd say neither parties, simply because of its racist usage.


Subtopic 2: Religion

Why is it that so many people don't take it upon themselves to contemplate the existence of a higher power, instead immediately assume that the words being belched out by televised preachers is the "word of god" and rejecting god without a bat of the eye? Why is it that so many people take the convenient way out and simply convince themselves that there is no god? Are they afraid to think about god? Why do they assume that god wants the big chapels and cathedrals? If people could only see that the bible isn't holy, then they would take a step in the right direction.

Why is it that mankind blames all their problems on god, when they're the ones who caused them all.

Why do so many people have a problem with heaven and hell? Do they seriously think that the judgment wouldn't be fair? Do they think that they're both simply an on and off switch? All we know about hell is 1. Its hot 2. No water 3. You can see the people in heaven and 4. You're sad and angry that you ended up there. The degree of those 4 things is determined by your deeds on earth. The same goes with heaven, it has variety of degrees as well, determined by your deeds. People also make a big fuss about them because they don't believe eternity is fair. Look at it this way. I place two pieces of corn on the cob in front of you. One is electrified, the other is not. I have signs over the one that is electrified saying "High Voltage" and "Do Not Eat". The other is simply sitting there. The people who go to hell, ate the electrified corn anyways. You go to either heaven or hell, because you chose it.

People also have complaints about the existence of evil. Let me put it to you this way. If god wants you to choose him, then there must be a second choice besides god. If god is good, then there is only one thing that would be the other choice.

They're the exact opposite number to the people they rant about. It's stupid beliefs that have no reasons or rationalisations - they just believe. Some of the smarter ones go to the trouble of finding out arguments to support their position but they don't weigh it up, don't struggle with their decision.

I can count the number of people I've met who actually have a genuine problem grappling with their beliefs on any subject.

Of course, if you want, I can actually bring up a lot of really compelling arguments that make your last point (the one I quoted) not seem so spiffy. The reality is that you're no better than they are. You simply believe and have learned all the nice bits of lip service needed to reassure your rationality that you're right. Which is kind of an amusing bit of information, given the first part of your rant.

Unless it's only hypocrisy when other people do it.

I don't mind the lip service arguments. Some of them really are quite clever and a good portion of them (on both sides) originated with people who had to struggle to come to terms with their belief.

None of us is inclined to accept we're wrong, none of us wants to even accept the possibility.

The number of people who actually seek to test their beliefs is very small. The number who will change their beliefs based on the tests is considerably smaller.

You know nothing of my experiences, nor of the experiences of my friends and family. You assume that there is no god, and by proxy, nothing could of possibly happened in my life to influence my beliefs. I have yet to hear anything remotely close to a compelling argument to possibly phase my beliefs.

About the bits of lip service, they're questions that have been going through my mind for some time now. They're serious questions that I don't have the answer to.

The reason I think nothing could possibly happen in your life to influence your beliefs is because you aren't basing them on rationality. You simply have faith, that most contemptible of things, and you bend your experiences to match your faith. Everybody does it. It's human nature.

Of course, everybody does it doesn't make it right.
