Before i make my theories and questions and all other trivial criteria of this topic, i would like to point out the origin of the topic i am about to impose to all the college-educated studs out there that seem to be the experts on the subject. i would first like to say that i am a in no way a long-time reader of this web-comic nor one of those obsessive nerds with no social lives that spend their life endlessly questing in the World of Warcraft while the Blizzard company watch in amusement as they receive sacks upon sacks of cash every minute of everyday. However, i do own the game and, therefore, have a basic knowledge of the virtual MMORPG that has consumed the country and its daily tax funding. When i first saw the first few comics, i.e. last sunday, i was mildly entertained and wanted to continue through what i thought was a comical WoW parody until i was up to date. Upon getting less than two-sevenths through the story line, i noticed a few aspects that were definitely outside of the world of WoW, but then brushing them off as if they were just dust on my shoulder. But now, i think that the entirety of the comic has completely changed. Now i'm not entirely sure, but i was under the impression that this was a WoW parody, and a funny one at that. However, it seems to have completely changed from the morbid yet hilarious journey of a few anti-heros who kill and maim along the way to a novel-sized story that might have been written by Mr. Tolkien himself with heroic glory of all that is goodiness and well you get the point.
All that i'm saying is that in the beginning, it was great and understandably well done when i thought it was a WoW parody about killing things with a bit humor. But now all i see is another heros save the world and get awards for their eternal servitude to all that is good. Now im not exactly sure if was a WoW comic to begin with but it sure as hell looked like one and sounded like one.
For example:
The title. i mean cmon. What else could it mean? Looking for Group? That has WoW written all over it. What other video game that isn't a MMORPG would even remotely have anything like that? And the fact that the few MMORPGs that are out there don't have elves and sword type things.
Look i just want to know if it was a Wow comic to begin with or still is.

Oooookay. Not exactly the answers i was looking for. But excuse me if i don't happen to have the knowledge you gents seem to be born with about said comic. i'm just saying it doesn't really make much sense. Despite the fact that i happen to not have ever posted in this particular forum before shouldn't really deter anyone from giving some sort of legitimate answer whether positive or negative.

I'm sorry I was so mean... It's just:
LFG is NOT WoW!
And every few days we get another topic like this telling us how this may or may not be WoW and we get so bloody tired!
As I said, sorry. I shouldn't have snapped.

Alright then, that answers one question. And thank you by the way. Still i have this wondering if the comic was once at some point a parody about WoW and not anymore. It still makes as much sense as if you one day decided that the world would be better run by a bunch of chimps with shear retardation. All the pieces are there yet they continue to say that the puzzle makes a different picture rather than the one you see on the box. Just look at the characters. A Blood elf (by WoW standards) hunter, Undead warlock, Orc priest, Tauren warrior, and to top it all off a female Dwarf warrior(as far as i'm concerned). My point about the elf being a blood elf starts with the first comic. Richard tells him that his race is evil. As are the Blood elves. Also, since i'm on Richard, how come his quips are more ignored by the other characters these days? He was my favorite character, and now its like no one give a damn that he's even there. The only time they do acknowledge his presence is when they actually need his help. And ill just throw this in as a closing statement. How come they never do any real evil damage any more? i thought that was great at the begining but now it seems they're always on this mission for the greater good. Ah, well you know....

LFG is a parody of Fantasy in general, with many tropes being taken from WoW. As WoW is so massive, there's more stuff to make fun of.
Also, I believe people ignore Richard more mostly as they've gotten used to the very concept of him.
And Carce, you know I'm Jekyl & Hyde. You never know when I am going to attack... Unless it's cases like this, when it's predictable I'm going to attack.

My answer is "Use the search function" but to be more precise...
Sohmer has said REPEATEDLY that This is not based on WoW. IT has its similarities yes.
You will also notice, if you go back several pages, there have been MULTIPLE topics closed on this, just liek this one will be.
My advice to you....search further for knoweldge before posting a topic that has been created before....In fact...the topic has been named several times "WoW or not...."
http://lfgcomic.com/forum/index.php?showto...rld+of+WarcraftTo quote Sohmer:
QUOTE
Looking for Group is a Fantasy/Humor comic that tells the ongoing tales of Cale, Richard, Krunch, Benny and Sooba. While we may parody World of Warcraft, Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time, George RR. Martin’s Song of Fire and Ice, Terry Goodkind’s Sword of Truth, Everquest, Lord of the Rings and pretty much every MMO and piece of fiction we can get our hands on, LFG is set in its own world, with its own races, rules and history.
The Comic is updated twice a week, with a new page every Monday and Thursday.
That is all.
