Indeed. Longer still, if you include the storyboard, for I believe that most comic writers actually make a script for their artist(s) before the artist can create the art.
For me to make one comic, it takes perhaps 4 to 8 hours (depending on the complexity of the strip), mostly because, even though it is only a 600px by 600px image, the coloring is really... weird. Then you have to get the inking and the speech bubbles (and text) just the right way for it to look good.
I can see why they only update only so often. Unless you think that they don't have a life and their time should revolve around comic making 24/7, or they should just do a comic that has a lower artistic effort put into it (like, no color), then I shouldn't see why you shouldn't get more comics.
Plus, you know, they do LICD nightly and are working on the movie, LICD TV series, and now a video game.
