Anyone else find white text hard to read? I hate to complain, I love the new skin but the new default text hurts me eyes. Can we change it to silver or gray? (anyone who agrees start posting in gray/silver in show of support and/or to make it easer for me to read your replies.

No, the text doesn't irritate me at all. However, the grey is a bit more soothing to the eyes.

A few lines of it doesn't bother me, its when it is a paragraph of text or more it starts irritating my eyes and makes me lose my place. I hope I am not asking for too much, I just want the defualt text switched to a dimmer color.

It looks all right to me.
Dark backgrounds with light text aren't the easiest on the eyes, but as long as the text doesn't contrast the background too much, it's OK.

Ok, so we shouldn't make an easy change that would help allot of people just because it doesn't effect you? Do you not see anything wrong with that?

I'm trying to accompany this request and make all my posts grey, it's hard to remember tho.
As much as white doesn't bother me, it turns out that grey doesn't bother me even more that white doesn't. :0

Excuse you?
I'm sorry but I'm going to have to take offense at your tone. You seem to have made some assumptions about my opinions without even asking me to clarify my position, which I feel you should have before attacking me in such a manner. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and attribute it to a bad day, or something.
I never said a change to a slightly darker color for the text would be bad. Nor did I make any statement saying that because I think it's OK the way it is that it has to stay that way. If folks would like me to change my text color to gray, that's fine, it's an easy change if I remember to make it before I post my replies. If the admins want to change it, I don't mind. I just said I thought it was OK as is, and last I checked that wasn't worth what I view as a nasty comment from someone who doesn't agree with me.
I really, really hate it when people see statements, opinions, or comments in my posts that I did not put there.
When I started posting here I was hoping the folks here didn't do that kind of thing.
NOW...
That being said, I'm not angry and looking for a fight. I'm just mildly annoyed at the moment (having spent two hours doing my taxes probably has something to do with it too, as I fucked up and had to redo my state form), and I don't expect that it's always going to be sunshine and daisies when we're discussing whatever we're discussing. I have nothing against anyone here. Just don't try to put words into my mouth (or my posts, as the case may be).

Devin Austra, I want make it clear I don't apologize for my statement. In your post it was perfectly clear that you thought the white text was fine and said that the contrast wasn't enough to irritate people despite multiple people saying it did. Whether you meant it or not does not matter. It is what you said and I had every right to ask the questions I did.

No, I said the white text wasn't enough to irritate ME. So have several others.
Would you mind telling me why it's perfectly OK for several others to state that they are OK with the white text, but it's not OK for me to say so?
Or do you for some reason have something against me?

I do now. For one I hate liars, and second I hate people who fake innocence abused anytime someone says they are wrong. It also annoys me when someone brings my reading comprehension skills into question. I don't assume anything I took your post for face value. The only thing that could of offended you until this post was disagreeing with you and if you can't handle that please ignore me now. For me, grey bleeds intothe background
From a desgners standpoint, and lessons learned in design school....in reality you read "black"
What this means is if you are on white paper, your eyes will read anything that's black. If you're on a black background, in reality your reading the blackness around the white.
You have to be very careful with colors...Many shades of grey bleed into the brown background and causes difficulties for those reading it.
And you may have noticed 3 posts disappeared from this topic.
Stay on topic or else.

Yeah, but when I click that, I have no choices. I have to use this one.
The gray doesn't bleed for me. I keep wanting to highlight the white to make it easier on the eyes though.
Edit: I just tried highlighting. It's worse.

yeah I tried the low fi version and it's horrible looking. I'll just continue to hilight text and change size.
It wouldnt even have to be grey just a dull white. The fact that the background has that woodgrain shadow stuff in it makes it worse imo. At least it's not black tho, thats a bonus. white text on black is the worst. eyestrain ftw!!

I'm all for that "middle ground" thing. While I can read the white and grey equally well, the white is a tad bright, but the grey is a tad to dim. ( I may just swithch back to the yellow text on black background in a few days, I found that one the easiest on my eyes.)
