I just checked my post history to make sure my claim was accurate. It also seems you are only the voice of reason when I am in the thread. If I am not you don't any of the praise you do if I am. I conclude most of those calling you the voice of reason are not calling you that because you are third party dealing even handed judgment but only because you agree with them. I won't name them but chances are you know who I am talking about.
That's not quite fair. My tendency toward this middle-man tactic was only recently awoken by that big blow-up you and Pen had, and to be quite honest, there aren't many threads you don't post in. Generally, the problems are also generally between you and someone (not strictly your fault, you just seem to have a very abrasive personality). However, you do have a point. I tend to agree with the people that aren't you. While not quite what I should be doing as a self-proclaimed mediator (I've seriously been stepping all over Kay and Ghis's toes, either they don't care or are very patient) there hasn't really been an instance where you were being wholly attacked. There have been quite a few where you've been attacked in defense, but I've tried my best to handle that as well, and you do unintentionally (or intentionally, no one but you can really say. It appears to me it's unintentional, though.) start a lot of controversy. Like I said before, that's not necessarily your fault. I know some people with personalities much like yours, a lot of people can't really stomach it to any great extent.

Wait, what? I looked, but I couldn't find the intention of that sentence... bad grammar or am I just slow? o.O
I did phrase it pretty badly, let me try again.
"Researched Retort? It's not the best title, but I found it funny because of Pen's post." I was referencing your "it should be something witty" statement. He likes research, and retorts are generally defined as a "witty remark".
