I wonder why it took them so long to movie-ize the best children writer's work. I thought the would alot sooner....... I know they dis the cat in the hat, but maybe re-do old ones that were good, like Green Eggs and Ham and The Guy Who lOved The Forest and stuff....

They had to wait till he died and his greedy relatives got rights to his stories. Dr. Suess had too much integrity to lit some directors piss all over his books.

*places books on toilet and get ready to use it, then notices everyone is looking at him* What? so we're NOT supposed to yet?
Anyway, its called directors think that people love visuals more than storylines, which is a total lie.

And in the case of the Cat and The Hat and The How the Grinch Stole Christmas (live action), fart jokes.

You are not going to convince a capitalist like myself that the sole reason it was done wasn't for the money and the money alone. They did not do it for the purpose of honoring Dr. Seuss or they would not sacrifice the story the way they did.

Exactly, why not just tear it to peices, what like they did to eragon, completely tore apart the storyline for better visuals.

The only movie that stuck with a book's storyline pretty good was "The Shining" miniseries directed by Stephen King...
With this in mind, the directors who do want good sales and a good storyline (a.k.a. closest to original as possible) would be to get some opinions of the author or family of the author while they make the movie.
Unless the family wants to jerk with the story then get a fanboy of Dr. Suess to help give pointers lol.

There was nothing for them to tear apart in the first place. FFS, all the author did was change the first letter of Dragon to make a character name. How unimaginative can you get?
Back on topic.
I think it's unfortunate how so many classic books are being destroyed by movies. It only seems to be about the money these days. Oh, wait, it never was about anything else. Whoops.

Integrity? The guy was high when he wrote his "children's" books. Such integrity there. A great example for the children.

In defense of drug-fueled art, if we excluded the art provided us by drug addicts we will be removing huge swathes of our culture.
The beautiful part about art is that a work can have merits and qualities that its creator had none of.

i dint notice that before, however the books are very good, and the fact that the author was so young is impressive. (just a side note)
Lord of the rings was as good as book movies get (at least most of the time) Hell they should have kept tom bombadill! the hobbits were ether constipated or gay, and the main characters (though admittedly cool) barely got a scratch on them the whole movie... and the movie was still good. I think that if you make an excellent book (Read lord of the rings, very good) you might be able to make a good movie. its like that thing were the camera adds 10 pounds, if your really skinny you look normal.

I wasn't impressed.
I don't care how young you are, copying the plot to Star Wars isn't hard or worth publishing and since his first book was self-published, most publishers agree with me.
Of course, once it's popular, I'd want to be making it for the money. It's just not good.

Well, he can't copy the prequel movies because George Lucas outsmarted him and worked backwards. He has to find somebody else's story to steal all major plot progression from.
