Well, I have been writing for several years now, however over the past five months I've been the victim of a horrible case of Writer's Block. Every time I go to write I can think of nothing to put on paper. Which Brings me to my question how do other combat their own creative walls.
I await your replies,

You really don't want to know what gets my creative juices flowing. But, I too have been bludgeoned with cases of writer's block. It sucks. However, the best way to combat that is to take a walk. Look around. Imagine what could be happening in certain situations rather than what is. A couple days ago I heard a couple kids skateboarding outside. I wastched them for a little while (mostly because I was terrified they were going to scuff up my car) and then started imagining all the things they could be doing while they skateboard. Needless to say, I had a very vivid story after that.

Here's one person's idea how to cure writer's block. ( Not mine, but I thought it was funny)

Write about something else, anythign else, than what you are wanting to write on.
Many times my inspration for what I had been writing on, returns after I write whatever is nagging at me to get out of my head, but until it's out and on paper (figuratively) I can't write on my other items.
Read books, they help inspire a lot.
Listen to music without words, like soundtracks or even stuff that is heavy in Latin/Gaelic (Enya, Era, etc)
Draw.
Talk with others.
Take a break and don't think of writing (this has worked for me a few times)

I'd suggest relaxation, if you are relaxed you can think of anything
Go for a massage... it really works for me, I relax so much that I can do anything afterwards!
Just dont think that you have to write, the best ideas come when you don't know it

I find listening to random music helps a whole lot; it's where I get a lot of character ideas from, as well as story ideas. Mind, the stories don't turn out too long, but they're enough.

Drink a few beers and read a book. Drink alot of coffee and attempt to write. Get some pot and get high, but not too high, and either attempt to write or read a book. The last one doesn't work for me very well, but I hear it works wonders for others.
Often, writers can only write when they have inspiration. Sadly, inspiration comes and goes, like the wet and dry seasons. Sometimes all you can do is wait until your muse visits another inspiration upon you, while you resign yourself to living on drops until then.
Somebody should ask: this writer's block, is it lack of inspiration, or do you have inspiration but are at a loss for (blank).

I always find being somewhere else helps.
I always got the most done when I was writing instead of listening to a lecture.

Wirte every day. Diary? Journal? Short stories about penguins, doesnt matter, to avoid the blockage of the writting you just need to write. I get it so bad sometimes that it actually hurts my mind lol, but what i tend to do is take a break from the story or essay or in some cases TREATISE

that im writting to write something else, which is why i upkeep a blog.
But truthfully thats just what works for me lol, and it might not work for you at all lol. I know people who have to listen to a specific piece of music while writting anything at all, so i guess we are all different.
I would definately try using verbys idea though, if you habitually write on a computer, get out a pen and try writting with pen and paper, and vice versa, also its of note to try a totally different location, i tend to write best when im traveling personally, though i know that can cause a lot of people to get headaches and to get sick really badly lol...
...so yeah, try a little of everything, then if you find something that works, stick with it till it stops working

Hope you get rid of it soon.
Good luck and god speed (im not a christian but its an interesting phrase that came before them

Am I the only active writer here that has never had writers block? Just wondering...
Also, I wonder if forum games like "corrupted wishes" help prevent writers block.

You might be but it also might depend on what you mean by writer's block.
I've never come to a point where I had no way to move forward or ran out of ideas. I just get in a state where I am unsatisfied with everything I try to write and end up using nothing.

I usually watch a movie if I ever have a writers block like the Lord of the Rings or some thing similar.
But what gets my imagery going is strangely anything sexual. About anything that is sexual it gets my thinking of many many ideas. Mostly about adventures of someone or a protagonist I usually write about doing something crazy.
Maybe I miss loving people and I dream as a result, who knows!? But it helps, so I recommend reading another story or find something that makes you ponder.

Whenever I get a case of writers/artists block, I get really angry and frustrated at myself, which makes it even harder to get anything done.
I find that when you do hit a block, it's best to step away for a while. Do something fun and relaxing, like go out with friends, play computer games, whatever you normally do to have fun. Eat some yummy food, get lots of rest, and give yourself a couple of days to "recharge your batteries".
After a little break like that I've found it to be much easier to get back to writing/drawing again.

Good luck!

Oh yeah, about my advice. It may be completely useless as I've not really written anything much for about a year and a half. Maybe longer.

I do not get writers block... at least, not any more. I get artist's block, but this is a different thing.
Whenever I have a new idea, even when I am still writing something else, I just either jot the idea down for later or quickly jot down what I was working on before and I go to this new idea.
A good way to get over writer's block, though not the best, or if you just want practice writing... well, I read a book. Some say that to get better at grammar and at pretty much your language basic skills, read at a level below where you currently are. I read at a higher level to challenge my thinking, understanding, and my vocabulary knowledge.
Sometimes after I read, I take one character and write a summary of the book from their point of view. It worked pretty well when I finished reading Wicked and The Invisible Man (Hey, I got an A on my book report when I handed it in)
Really, experiment for yourself. You can also just write about your writer's block.
JUST WRITE!
