Wow... a big sack of flesh. That's almost a little more gory than I expected from Richard. Sure, he's evil and necro and all... but it's so unsanitary.

In other news, it looks like we're gonna get a little history lesson on Krunch and his family. Nice, since his bloodline was only briefly mentioned before. Maybe we'll see how Benny fits into it too.
Hraddon
Only a fool would fall for Richard's 'disguise'...

right?
Jakx
Maybe we'll even get to actually SEE some of Krunch's family... That'd be cool.
Medraq
"unrelated news" .... lol

I like Dick's new head smile.gif
foxeye
!. Richard had a head on his head, that = epic win.

2. we get to meet Krunchs familly, WOOT. /dance

Lunaya
Wow! It's Richard's very first costume-change. Who says warlocks can't wear mail? *ducks*

This is getting good...I mean, it was always good, but..eh, too queasy to make sense right now. >.<
Artemicon
Hmm, maybe well also meet Krunch's brother, remember the ogre guy mentioned something about one being a scholar, the other a warrior?

Ohhh and now Krunch might have to fight his own kin? or aid them? this is going to get interesting...
MantaLord
It's times like this when I wish Sohmer would release the maps he promised us a few months ago in the Codex.
Captain Bighead
Long time reader, first time poster here. Hi.

Sounds sweet! But some people think there isn't a brother to Krunch. I mean, Stoll mentioned a Warrior and a Scholar. It'd be incredibly scary to think of a guy of Krunchs race Bigger and more warrior-like then him. Or if Krunch is the warrior, how do you get smarter then him?! Also, why did Benny say Father, instead of family, if his brother was around? Maybe he's dead?

On another note, Richard is sheer amazingness. I've shown friends this comic and they love him too. I'm rather fond of his new disguise.
TSBasilisk
I want that hat...
MrEasterband
Wow... I'm really amazed by Krunch. One second he shows the group a map, then BAM! He's holding a HUGE hammer. I wonder where he's keeping that one... Since it is just as long as himself and the head of it is even bigger than Pella. It must have grown since last time we saw it.
And I just realized that I was doubting the logics of a comic...
The gF
So everyone sort of assumed Krunch and his dad hated one another. o.O Looks like Krunch cares pretty deeply to me. Nice curve-ball there, Sohmer. ;D
aurum
I think Richard & Co. are going to form an army with the people from the tribes and then attack the Vulii.
I pity the people that try to attack Richard.
joelskates
My guess is krunch and his brother left the family around the same time, hence the "father" not 'Family' part.
I had other ideas but my brain just died. Hooray.

Time for a communist party me thinks.

I'm getting a visual of Richard riding into the battle on one of Krunch's kinsmen, rodeo-style. What? Who wouldn't want to see Richard in a cowboy hat?
Rae-Rae =^.^=
Don't provoke more of Rabies' fanart! I stopped looking after the Cale/Tavor mudwrestling thing, and that's only because I brought up the idea. Don't think I haven't regretted it.

Hmm... Krunch isn't concerned for the rest of his clan/family? Is that the popular theory now? I imagine, since he and Stoll implied that the Bloodrage's hold some kind of political power, that concern for his father simply equals concern for the rest of his clan, group... herd, whatever.
Agriogata
Interesting indeed, w8ting for Thursday ^^

"Armed patrolmen should stay in pairs"

In all likelihood there were two or more patrolmen, and Richard brought back more than one head (although the bloody bag he holds up can only hold one, but maybe he has more bags sitting at his feet); Richard said "I have secured us the neccessary disguises", plural. I see Richard has found himself a chain shirt, too. Yeah I bet that will fool anyone. rolleyes.gif

Aaaand.... the running gag continues, with Richard once again impugning Cale's masculinity. "The female elf is correct."

Richard is still trying to gross Cale out. Maybe he hopes for a girlish scream. Good luck. biggrin.gif

More Krunch backstory is always good.

Art criticism:

I know that Lar adds brighter highlights to characters and clothes, esp to Benny's hair, when there's a lightsource. But here on page 121, it's night, and they're hiding in the woods. I don't see any lightsource, lantern or whatever. I would assume all the characters (being non-humans) have some sort of nightvision, like cats, or "darkvision", and don't even need a lantern to see at night. Maybe there's a full moon, but moonlight is usually not sufficiently bright (esp not under tree branches) that I would expect "reflections" on hair. If the moon was full then from my experience it would light up the whole landscape, but here we have pitch black background and only conveniently well-lit scenery around the characters, which points to the "nightvision" hypothesis. (Sooba in panel 1 is not casting a shadow at all, and Krunch in panels 5 and 8 is only casting a very very faint shadow, which fits the idea that it's dark with only starlight or faint moonlight.)

And yet, there are inexplicable highlights, especially noticable to me in panel 1 (Benny's hair), panel 5 (on Pella), panel 6 (Krunch's mane), and in panel 9, the last panel. THere's even a faint reflection on Benny's staff; at first I thought it meant perhaps she was using the staff to make light, but then I would expect the whole gem to glow. I've looked through the archives, and whenever Benny used her staff to make magical shields there was a distinct point is light inside the gem, but it was always brighter, sharper. In panel 9 here it's more diffuse, and she doesn't seem to be casting anything. In the first panel, she isn't even holding her staff, and yet there's this odd "lightsource" coming from nowhere in the middle of the night. I suppose Lar did the highlights out of habit.

I know it's a small thing, sorry. Maybe I'm too picky. But it's really distracting me. I felt there was something off about this page right from the moment I saw panel 1, but couldn't put my finger on it at first.

On a related note: I had never actively noticed the lighter grey areas in the fur on Krunch's shoulders and arms before, almost like tribal markings, but a quick look through the archives showed me they have been there before ever since Krunch first showed up on page 13. Hm ok.
white_salad
wow a sack of flesh. I didnt even think richard would go that far. But the unrelated news part made me lol and woke up my parents. Definitly worth it. OOO goody finally some good ol'fashioned Krunch time. Finally!!!!

WARLOCKS CANNOT WEAR MAIL OR PLATE!!!!!!!!!!!

Sure they can! Just follow these easy steps:

1. Find a unfortunate fellow who happens to wear plate/mail clothing that's about your size.
2. Decapacitate said fellow so you won't need to damage his armor.
3. Take of the victims clothes.
4. The mail shirt has three large holes: one to stick your head through, the others are for your arms. Be sure to stick your head through the middle hole, otherwise you will look silly.
5. Ready for the difficult part? The plate gloves need to be worn on both of your hands. However, some people confuse left and right and wear their gloves the wrong way. The secret to these gloves is: If there's no room for your thumbs, switch em. They will feel much better that way.

Be sure to tune in next week, when I will explain how to wear mail pants tongue.gif

I wonder how Cale will take Krunch hijacking his quest all of a sudden?
I don't think he'll mind much, it's a noble cause and all that stuff.

We can't know that.

PLUS, I have another question...Vraay. Is she helping Aelloon, or is she stalling him?

Be patient, I have a feeling time will tell. But if you want to speculate, perhaps she could be warning Aelloon of a threat other than the group.

That's odd, how did my post get to this thread?
Regardless I'll need three forum members, a sheep, and a cerimonial dagger to complete the ritual of moderator-summoning.
Aeriosa
you would have thought that they rest of the group would have heard Richard killing the patrolmen. he tends to be kind of loud, i think >.>

or at least they would have noticed the bag flesh before this, depending on when he killed them.

why did krunch leave his village in the first place?

Two words. Assless chaps.

..... blink.gif Oh gods why do I do this to myself!!! More importantly, why do I do this to other people?? >]

*cough* Anywho. Yaaay Richard!!! Yaaay really charactaristically gory Richard!! How much you wanna bet he decapitated the guy[s] then used the 'Remove Skeleton' spell to get their skins before they realised their head was missing? Then again, it is funnier (read: more evil/gross) if he just grabbed the nearest dagger and started hacking away. He would make a great tailor. Kamina was right, two faces are so much better than one! Uuber kudos of greatness if anyone gets that reference.

Also, yay Krunch story development! You know its coming. He seems quite pissed. Mahaps lots of tackling will be had? As much as I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more of a different kind of race, I have a feeling lots of Krunchs' would take up a lot of panel space. Richard will still manage to squeeze in there, though.

Pella is still walking around with that lyre (?), as if she wants to look useful. Its not working too well. In panel 3, if Krunch was looking directly at her instead of his maps I'd get the distinct impression he was about to smack her upside the head for 1)Saying stupid things 2) Talking without being spoken to 3) Talking at all 4) Because its Pella.

Then he pulls out da' hammer. X3

In unrelated news, why is Benny still fully clothed?

Richard, you are SO smegging SICK! laugh.gif I totally love it!!

I am absolutely giddy with the idea that we might meet Krunch's father. And dare I hope, warrior brother? Maybe maybe? Please? rolleyes.gif

Well, even if we don't meet them, hearing more of the Krunch/Benny or Clan Bloodrage backstory will be pretty cool in itself.

How did they manage to end up on a colder, northern shore coming from a place that seemed to be temperate forests after it was done being a desert? Unless they seriously went out of their way to not land in an area occupied by the legion which they're just going to attack anyways which makes no sense, which also leads to another interesting "coincidence" with 9/11...

Long time lurker, first time poster...

I always assumed that Krunch's "warrior" brother was just a misconception. Incase nobody has noticed, Krunch is a scholar AND a warrior. So couldn't word have gotten around about the "warrior" son of the Bloodrage clan, and seperately, about the "scholar" son of the Bloodrage clan? People assumed it was two brothers, but it was all Krunch.

At least...thats what I thought unsure.gif

Hopefully we shall soon find out the truth at the Bloodrage Family Reunion.

Hey, there's a nicely disturbing idea. The whole cast drawn in the opposite gender. Even better, the real cast meets their gender-bent double and decides that maybe screwing with the timeline was a bad idea.

Ugh..Damn stomach flu. I'm not even making sense to myself. Whatever. ><
