Here you can discuss interesting parrallels to other places in the world that may relate to LFG, be it purposeful or not. This should lead to some interesting conversations.
*note* Yes. There is WoW. Good job, you noticed it. So do the rest of us, don't point that oh so obvious one.

Defiently some refrences to the sword of truth series ... personally I think anything fantasy Sohmer has read or seen has gone into this comic.

possibly JtHM when Richard was playing with the fork. relating to the spork of doom but thats questionable.
Krunch says "fire it up" a few times witch is a key line from a firebat in the game starcraft.
this gives a good reason to reread to see what can be found.

There is a small but non-zero chance that there's a reference to an old song by Amorphis, First Doom:
...Hail to the ones who hail...
is part of it's lyrics. Richard in the little village, anyone?

You know what an indirect reference is? In Super Smash Bros. Melee Marth's sword looks like the depiction of the SoT

Questionable, yes. It's more likely Richard was just being facetious and just ran with the joke.
If Sohmer read JtHM, I would worship him even more.

I want to say that the quote is actually more directly from something else...but I can't recall what right now. It's kinda nagging at me. >_<

A couple MMO references, on page 34, when Richard is killing rats, and says he has the uncontrollable urge to do so, it's like in any MMORPG with one shotable critters(notably, WoW). People just randomly run by and nuke the critters for no reason at all. I used to see it happen all the time.
During the battle with the Elementals, there's an Everquest reference when Benny is giving Krunch a hard time and says "What can I do for you A Drowned Rat?" That's a reference to when guards would trash talk before killing rats near the cities. "Time to die, A_Giant_Rat!" Reminds me of the good old days. =)

they're practically asking with big flashy signs and a prize if you can kill them all before the tram arrives. i tell you this, I've killed every rat ONCE! before the tram arrived. It IS possible. what did i win? they told me to keep it a secret...

Yeah, the deep run tram is an example, though I usually go and make a sandwich while waiting on the tram. lol I know anytime I run past a critter, I can't resist killing it. They even made it so if you kill a cat in Silvermoon City, you get a debuff called "Bad Luck". Good stuff.

Universe: Ok, that's it! In the words of Eric Cartman, "Screw you guys, I'm goin' home!"
Ahem. Back to topic.........I stated this already in the "Elf Who Would Be King" thread, but I've noticed alot of Arthurian referrences(possibly direct, possibly an indirect result of The Wheel of Time series).

Sure it worked. If one spell could hurt Richard that badly, imagine what the shamans could have done to him if they really tried. They were in the middle of a battle, so they couldn't be bothered to finish him off.

I was reading some Lord of the Rings fanfics and noticed that a couple of different authors used an elven character named Tavor. Turns out that in the LoTR universe, the word means "woodpecker" in Elven. Whether it's an intentional reference or not, I don't know.
