I'm a fan of the old Doctor Who series, but I also like the new one. Are there any other fans around?

Being a whipper snapper, I'm only familiar with the new series, and I love it.

I saw one episode, and have been hungering for more. I couldn't remember to see any before Sci-fi moved the time, now I don't know when it is on

I don't think it's being shown on the Sci-Fi Channel at this time; BBC America has been showing episodes on Fridays starting at 5 p.m. (Central time); they show two back to back episodes.

Sci-fi was showing it on fridays at 8 a while ago.

I love David Tennant as the Doctor.

Indeed, he does the job far better than Christopher Eccleston.
My father says that Davids portrayal of the doctor seems to be more accurate with the previous doctors.
Christopher seemed to come off a bit cold, like The Master (I hope they bring him back, best part of the series I say).
EDIT:

The season ended a few months ago. They're not going to show any until the next season is ready. I don't have to worry because of TiVo. I <3 TiVo.
Me, my dad, and my cousin intend to split the cost of all the seasons and buy them over time. I got him hooked when I showed him the "Blink" episode (my cousin, that is).

I agree; David Tennant shows more emotion. The Doctor always showed compassion for his companions.

Heheh, the "Weeping Angels".
They're the most gentle assassins. They send you back in the past and let you live to death. You die sometime around the time you were sent back, and they live off of the potential energy of what you could of had if they hadn't of touched you. Their defense mechanism is, if they are viewed by a living creature, they turn to stone (reverse Medusa). They hold their hands over their eyes because they cant risk looking at each other. They're extremely quick, capable of covering over 20' in the blink of an eye. They've also got fangs and claws (like the concept of them being wicked quick and capable of taking your life with a mere touch isn't scary enough).
I wont ruin the plot of the episode for you, just in case you get the chance to see it.

Doctor Who is a little old for people to enjoy the early episodes.

Because it was filmed in black and white

. Personally I have seen some of the early episodes and had to keep myself from physically laughing my Arse off

. But the later ones are great fun

.
My favorite race is the ood

, they are so cute

"The beast shall rise from the pit and make war against god" "what did you say?!" *ood smacks translation sphere* "I meant to say enjoy your meal"

There's the black and white as well as the fact that the costumes could have been made (and probably were) and a $2 Gift Emporium.

If I was to believe everything I saw in Torchwood, I would think that the majority of England is inhabited by homosexuals, which only brings up the question... how are there so many of them?
Josef bugman
Jan 31 2008, 09:46 AM
bisexuals maybe Taz, besides which for the most part its either with aliens (doesn't really count) or with members of the team (and you can see why they are attractive).
Taz
Jan 31 2008, 07:28 PM
Then that leads me to my second theory of the UK through Torchwood. The entire population is a few hormones short of humping inanimate objects, with the cast closest to that point. That just makes me worry for their safety because its just a matter of time before they all die from broken pelvises.
Josef bugman
Jan 31 2008, 07:41 PM
yes, because we are all sexually repressed *rolls eyes*.
Besides which, I think there are a number of different ways that the team go but as far as I know the only really Bi one is captain Jack, and tbh he would have sex with anything
Taz
Jan 31 2008, 10:49 PM
It seems so far from the all knowing, and wise persona of the Face of Bo (which we learn to be Captain Jack in Doctor Who).
Owen is also capable of bi for convenience reasons as seen in episode one.

I've seen most of Season One and Two (of the new series, of course) and a few episodes from Season Three.
Blink was definitely the creepiest by far. Didn't help that one of my RPing pups decided he was going to dress up like a Weeping Angel and then couldn't move when the paint dried. It was a bugger getting it out of his wings, too.
A friend of mine had an excellent idea, though: Find a friend who's never seen Doctor Who, buy them a small set of Weeping Angel figurines, and then show them Blink. Then, when they're not looking or paying attention, randomly move the figurines around their house.

Oooh! Oooh!! Doctor Who! SQUEEEEE!!!!
I'm an avid fan of the new series. The Daleks, Cybermen, the Family of Blood, and the Best/Ood are made of win. Shame David Tennant's leaving, he was good. MUCH better than Christopher Eccleston.
Torchwood's not bad, either. Bit weird.

MantaLord - I'm considering doing it to my girlfriend. She's never seen the gloriousness that is Doctor Who.
Also, I once, and very briefly, role-played a group of home improvement Daleks. *REDECORATE REDECORATE* They had no sense of style, either, and kept trying to redecorate people. Somehow, they always managed to choose the colour that least suited the person they were painting.

Only losers say British shows suck, a little inaudiable dialouge here and there can't be too bad. I also like how the writers intertwined this show and Torchwood, and if we are lucky, then there will be more Cptn. Jack next season. What about the way they chose to end this season as a cliff hanger, an inner tube gets thrown at the Doctor.
And who said that the writers strike is slowing down the show, its in England...

Have just finished season three. (of the new series)
have enjoyed them all, I really liked the twisted in time episode, with the lady talking to the Doctor's recording, and not understanding, and then talking to the same recording later, but this time the whole converstaion makes sense, as if they are talking to each other in the same room.
I enjoyed both of the episodes where the Doctor was not the main characters, but we realize what is happening in the story, because he is present.
