Everyone, I am afraid to tell you I have some bad news. Terry Prachett has been diagnosed with a rare form of early onset Alzheimer's disease.
I am sure this needs no introduction as to how bad news this is, at least to me and anyone else who has ever read and enjoyed any of Prachetts books.

I suppose it was to be expected. Things seem to happen to prolific authors.

This is sad news for me. Terry Pratchett is the man who inspired me to start writing; yeah I had ideas, but when I read his first book something in my brain went clunk and I started to write. I consider him my "mentor I will never meet", and I wish him luck and good wishes; hopefully he'll get better.

He's probably turning in his coffin at that display*.
Chris Crocker indeed.
*I know he's not dead but I always imagined he had a coffin for recreational purposes.

its treatable, but not cureable. As he said "hes not dead yet", so its probably best if we don't talk as if he is.

I had a footnote, didn't I?
And yes, I am aware you were probably talking to others - the plight of the genius, the lesser people often talk under you - but I feel my footnote deserved another mention.

But no more awesome books....to some people (not me or i think most people on the forums) that is the equivalent of dead.

Damn right! I'm sure the man still has plenty left to offer. Shouldn't write him off yet. There's always hope.

Yeah but there's never been a study that has shown even a tenuous connection between well-wishes and the health of individuals. So I say wish to your evillest content.
Won't hardly make no difference 'tall.

It would be nice for me to be able to say that but as soon as I know of somebody, there's a part of me that starts wishing hilariously horrible things to start happening.

Perhaps you need to develop terrible mental powers, like little Billy Mumy in that classic Twilight Zone "It's A Good Life".
Use your brain to turn your enemies into horrible monsters, then kill them.
It's a useful set of skills to have.
