Hey guys. My Brother is going to Fiji. He is going on a 2 year mission for our church. I also made this for him.

If you don't get it: He is leaving Utah in the Winter to go to Fiji. That means it is summer in Fiji.

The black bar is censoring a name. NOT anything else.

I thought I'd just post this to let people know.

If you have any questions about it just ask.
Frosti
What's the black-in-black part for?
Super Gamer 117
To cover a last name
Frosti
Ah. I thought you'd censored somethin laugh.gif
MantaLord
Heh... Nice. You can even make it into a bi-weekly comic or somewhat.

Next on the Fijian Missionaries Show! Our heroes encounter some Disney filmmakers... But do they KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE WORDS HOUSE AND OUTHOUSE?

I don't know that I believe you.
Grym
...
his first name is elder?
Frosti
Either that or it's a codename
Grym
Is his last name berries?
Frosti
Heh^^
Verbose
He must be working with the Russians.
Frosti
Ooh, accusations!
Verbose
I can accuse anyone of anything. It's not as hard as you might think.
Frosti
I think it's easy to accuse somebody. The difficult part is getting away with it.
Verbose
Oh. Those sentences weren't connected.

LOL! laugh.gif I should totally make that. My bro loves The Other Side of Heaven

No. It's a term for 'Melkezidec Priesthood holder'. Kinda like 'Saint' Jones or something.
Verbose
Only hopefully not as firm on the "you must die for this title" stance, I assume.
Grym
Since he is still breathing, I think that is probably the case.
Super Gamer 117
Seems I'm going to buy my bro a christmas present early and ship it now. He leaves soon, and the cost to send mail and packages to Fiji is quite expensive
Rae-Rae =^.^=
Will he be left there for two years straight, or come home for the holidays and all that occasionally?

As a student of anthropology, I particularly dislike missionaries.
MantaLord
They are sometimes parmitted back for Christmas and such.
Blue
Fiji has good water...

Why are you opposed to our invasive culture?

A proper anthropologist isn't going to discriminate that any more than a proper linguist is going to dictate how people should speak.

I have never heard of missionaries being allowed to return home for any holidays. the closest that they come to that is being allowed to call home for certain holidays. All other communication is supposed to be done by mail.

BTW, Tell your brother Congrats.

In case people here don't understand, the missionaries do not do this to get paid. They don't get a free ticket to Heaven by this either. A missionary spends his/her own money (parents money) to fly to a location around the world (chosen by the Church) and preach the Gospel for 2 years (18 months for women) to those who want to know. I understand that many of you think that they preach to everyone, but they are only showing you the tip of the iceberg when they first meet you. Next time you think about picking on one of them, think about who you know that has a conviction like that.

I don't know. I prefer to think of the irony involved in trying to save the soul of somebody so diametrically opposed to the lifestyle ideas they espouse.

It makes my jokes that much funnier.

Wow! Thanks for getting some stuff cleared up. All you said is true.

Manta: You should know that you can't come back from your mission to see your family... well, you can but that is only if you decide to stop being a missionary. Being a missionary brings you blessings. Have you even listened to your youth leaders or your missionaries? If not you still should.

Also, I've found out that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is all voluntary work. No one gets paid. That's what mainly separates us from most other churches. We do it because we want to, not because of need or greed.
Verbose
I may be going out on a limb here, but I'm pretty sure Charity is a pretty generalised Christian virtue. If you've been told other churches are paying people, you've been lied to. One of the many things I dislike about churches - they don't pay you.

I'm also kind of curious as to why isolating yourself from family makes a missionary more holy.
Jabba
Nope there is that indian religion that pretty much makes you give to charity. i forget what its called, but still.
Verbose
I'm sorry, but if they call something a sub-continent, I don't want any part of it or any part of anything in it.
Jabba
your just cheating to get your own way.
Verbose
It doesn't matter if I win, though.

That's the key to cheating. You just need to cheat enough that you win.

It keeps you from being distracted.

And another thing, (sorry if I'm starting to get annoying) We are all on missions in the Church. Just those who go away for two years are on a full-time mission. So even when missionaries get home they still try to teach and tell others info about our church. Kinda like what I am doing now.

OH! and to support that statement. My friend who is in the church just converted someone and he is getting baptised this past Sunday tongue.gif

The homesickness isn't distracting? Or is that something that's ignored for the Greater?
Super Gamer 117
I guess it could be used for you to get used to living on your own.
Verbose
That seems a bit bird learning to fly. "Oh, you need to know how to fly? Sure, let me just shove you off this tree branch. Good luck on the way down!"
MantaLord
That's weird... I remember one of my cousins being able to return home for christmas... Ah well, I was young, maybe my memory's not like it used to.
Verbose
Maybe it's all the alcohol and illicit drugs that have wrecked your memory.
MantaLord
I need to stop smoking Walrus Blubber.
Verbose
I'd imagine that the stoat urine is causing most of the issues, though.
MantaLord
Hmmm... probably.
Verbose
I'd stop squeezing it fresh.

not really. Missionaries ALWAYS have to be with another priesthood holder at all times. And when you arrive you usually have a more-experienced, already been a missionary for some time, mission companion

So the bird pushes the bird, that is learning to fly, down, and his uncle is down there to assist him if anything goes wrong

LDS helped work on the transcontinental railroad.

They made the state of Nevada.

There's some other stuff.
MantaLord
The LDS found Las Vegas. (It was a good place before the comercialism started).

contrary... i will provide a common conversation i am in.

Curiousperson: Who leads your church/ward?
Me: Bishop (name)
Curiousperson: How much is he payed?

pretty much one of the first questions always asked by those whom know almost nothing about religion other than their own.
Verbose
Clergy is a different issue.

Some clergy are given a stipend to help them live as being clergy is their sole job. You see this in Catholics, amongst others. Other clergy don't get paid because it's not their only job - my school's reverend (C of E) was paid to work at my school, nothing from his Church.

Aside from evangelists, a wage is not usually a big thing for clergy.

And I swear I would be an evangelist so fast if I could get through a few hours of preaching without maniacle laughter.

Come on! The religious sector is the biggest set of gamblers there is. They all believe that there's a diety and then they bet on where they think he is.

I'm pretty sure only the agnostics are not betting.
Rae-Rae =^.^=
Nah, the agnostics are just pansies that don't wanna lose any chips. tongue.gif

Gambling is highly frowned upon when LDS people do it. You are thinking of some other religion or other.
