Aww..XD Well, at least Cale's smiling again, if only temporarily. Richard still has his powers, but they're obviously not as dangerous this way. Otherwise, Krunch wouldn't have been able to grab him without burning his hand. I love how annoyed Richard looked when Benny blew him out.

Having a rabbit... I wonder if it's karmic payback for Richard for FWOOSHING on a bunny early on so that now he has to TAKE CARE of a bunny.

Systems stabalized. Order restored. Observations reveal that with his new size, Richard could become an excellent private eye, and still be Dick.

This is what I picture happening sometime in the near future:
The group (minus Richard) goes off to combat whatever evils await them in the village. Meanwhile, Richard gets fed up with the bunny, and tries to kill it. But here's the M. Night.Shamylan(spelling?) plot twist - HE CANT! Either from lack of powers or the growing of a a soul, Rich finds himself unable to kill the bunny. Rich and his new bunny friend wind up saving the day, on to next issue of the comic.

Cliche? Yes.
Funny? Yes.

And Benny actually laughed at Cale's joke! It's nice to see the group starting to mesh together, almost like friends.

They never really did fight, but they DID grow from something along the line of "business partners" to something close to friends.

Cale's dick joke was... predictable. I mean, I called it last week, several other people did too. Still, it's nice to see Cale laugh, even if it felt a bit forced for the sake of the joke. But apparently our elf does have a very immature simple sense of humour.

My first reaction to Cale and Benny and Pella poking fun at Little Dicky Richard was "Why, that's low." until I reminded myself that Benny, Krunch and Pella are evil and can be as mean as they want. (Or at least what passes for "evil", because personally I don't consider Benny and Krunch evil on the same scale as Richard or other typical fantasy world evilness, only self-serving and occasionally callous.) Only a mindmannered saint would think it wrong to mock Richard at this point, and not even Cale is that gentle a soul. No, I have to correct myself, technically you shouldn't have to be a saint, as not kicking those who are down is one of the virtues we try to install in children, because preying on the weak it's what cowardly bullies to. But no-one should go to hell for indulging in a bit of Schadenfreude especially in cases like this when the victim really deserves it...

Krunch does not join in on the immature jokes; his verbal barbs are much more subtle and for that so much sharper.

And apparently even Richard can be shove-locked when you manage to break his concentration while he's trying to cast a spell.

I wonder if the spell that was on the amulet is draining power from Richard and channeling it to the imp? I think someone already brought up a similar idea last week.

So all in all, while I'm not too happy with the chibi-Richard subplot at least it's a temporary solution to the "Richard solves every combat by going nuclear and burning the enemies ot a crisp" theme. Now the other characters have a chance to show what they can do without being overshadowed.

Why do I have to think of Bun-Bun the psychopathic switchblade-wielding sentient killer rabbit from Sluggy Freelance? Little Richard is running with a switchblade... Would be hilarious if the riding bunny sat up and flipped out the switchblade though.

I don't think Richard's riding rabbit will last long, he'll probably kill it and then demand someone find him a new one. And then kill that too. Thank god you can't ride cats. Let's Richard try. Cats have many sharp pointy things.

I just can't spell properly today, though. I just went back and found typos in passages I could have sworn I had checked after writing them. Yay for the editing function.

The peasant, if he is a simple peasant, probably thinks at this point that the group is plain nuts, bonkers, crazy as march hares. Adventurers. Can't live with them, can't live without them.

I am Benny the priestess, that mountain with fur is Krunch, he's a gentle scholar really, no trust us, he's not going to eat your children... hey come back here!... And the midget on the bunny rabbit is, um, our mighty warlock Richard, Lord of Darkness, Destroyer of... things. No, trust me, he's not a talking garden gnome. Don't make him mad."

I could actually see that scenario happening. Although I don't think Cale's going to be such a token nice guy any more.

Hm... something that's bugging me.

Is Richard still shrinking? Compare him sitting down in the last panel on page 94 with today's page #95, especially panels 7 and 10 (the last one).

On Thursday's page it looked like he would come up approximately to Cale's and Benny's hip if he stood up. Not quite up to their waist, but maybe 90 centimeters? Sitting down, his head is level with Pella's waist.

Now look at him today when he's standing up, it's hard to judge his height in panel 4 because of the perspective, but inp panel 7 Krunch picks him up in one palm, then when Richard is standing beside Benny's skirt and everyone else's boots, you only see the hem, he doesn't even come up to her knees! He's small enough to ride a wild rabbit!

There's definitely a difference in size. I hope that's just artistic choice, if it is, I'm fine with that, but I'd like to know now lest this starts a long speculation thread about Richard re-enacting the Incredible Shrinking Man soon.(*)

The Incredible Shrinking Man is a 1957 science fiction film directed by Jack Arnold and adapted for the screen by Richard Matheson from his novel The Shrinking Man. If you don't know it, go read it. It's a classic. And the movie adaption is pretty close to the book (although leaving out some ofthe more risqué subplots).

Also, for a movie made in 1957 in pre-CGI times it's very cool; yes it's black-n-white, but for the scenes with the giant spider and the man in the same scene they used a real tarantula (and their equivalent of blue screen), not stop-motion models like Ray Harryhausen used for his mythical monsters in his Clash of the Titans and various Sindbad movies.
