Plot? Character development? An actual in-depth storyline unlike punchline-oriented comics? Awesomeness? Do I need to continue?

Rip's right. We can't have the entire comic be Richard's sarcastic remarks. It's the fact he does them in the middle of a morbid and serious times that makes it funnier. Timing is everything.

Two things I think. Firstly, there's only so much subtle you can squeeze out of a character who's an incredibly sociopath and knows it. Secondly, Benny is less evil these days - check the end of the last "book". She did get some comedy lines in today's strip, but since she's mostly a more rounded-character, Richard ends up carrying more of the comedic burden than he did in the first issue. Of course, I might be horrifically wrong.
Edit: Huh? I thought I was in the "is Richard fading to the background?" thread. Ignore this...
Agreeing with Rip and Manta, Slapstick comedy is used for one shots, fillers, and inbetween arcs. Once you are in the middle of an arc, while it can be used occasionally, the slapstick takes a backseat to what is happening. Also, to tie in what Rabbit just said (see, I won't ignore you, you can't make me) with what Rip said: Benny was mainly used as a catalyst to move the story, and to protect the characters when they need a magical field. Her thing isn't slapstick comedy, that's Richard's, Cale's, and Pella's thing, yet as a main person in the group, she has to provide her own comic relief (since this is an adventure comedy) which would be different, more subtle, sarcastic, and witty remarks tend to be her thing; along with getting a rise out of the other characters.

damn. i agree. youve all brought up a valid point. but still, what drew me to this comic in the first place was its hilarity, not its story arcs, which are, to be honest pretty lame. and now i will be mur-der-ed.
