so. This is a thread for the discussion of which is better, the mac or the PC? I hope you forumites will be smart enough not to flame and give better reasons than 'Games' Or 'Because it's dumb hur hur hur', because seriously anyone with any talent at debating could shoot those down in a second.
Ok? No flaming. No trolling. And really, Read the rules

That too.

The PC can run anything. Personally I like the PC the best but the Mac runs better. But, without the PC I cannot play most of all the games I have to play sad.gif
MantaLord
I used to be pure PC... Then I realized the uselessness of a system you have to pay 300 bucks for every three months.\

Mac all thee way baby. I don't have any, but they work fantastic. I'm trying to get a Macbook for Christmas.

My friends, however hate Mac... Because of the iPod. They hate anything that is "cool" or "popular".
Grym
Personally I think that neither is better or worse, they are simply different ways of handling and it depends on your preferences. Of course, I have only used PC's sparingly.

I also hate popular things. They are so... original.
Grym
Lots of popular things are bad, but not everything. People think you are hopping on the bandwagon, if, say, you like a mainstream band. However, they are also bandwagoning anti-mainstream.
Lunatic1701
Personally I think Macs are better, but more things are PC compatible, so it ends up being easier just to have a PC...
Super Gamer 117
Macs do come with voice recognition system while PC don't
Grym
Yeah. And macs have built in cameras. Or the good ones do.
Super Gamer 117
PC's are also easier to hack (which brings up an anecdote just today)

My teacher had put in a new program for all the computers in the class so that he can watch and control ANYTHING that the other people were doing. Eventually my friend, an uber haxor, had hacked into his computer and made his computer be able to watch and control anyone else's computer too tongue.gif We got the teacher mad.

Since when do you have to pay $300 dollars a month for a PC? o_O;; I've had mine for over ... four and half years? Not a cent has gone into it since. Then again... I may or may not have some programs that were obtained illegally.

Anyway, hating something purely because it's mainstream is stupid. Tell your friends I said so :-p Nothing against them, but they're trying too hard to be anti-mainstream".

Exactly. Like how TLD flame's System of a Down because it's more mainstream than the "cool" things he listens to. I could care less if System was the most main stream out there, I love their sound >.> Besides, Serj Tankian has the voice of a god.

Having said that, I would have to say that I'm with Grym in the fact that neither is better or worse, just different. It really depends on what you're used to using. Me? I've been around PC's all my life, so naturally I prefer one over a Mac, which I've only used limitedly.
Super Gamer 117
Most schools use macs that is why I am kinda familiar with them.
Grym
Rabeez, I feel similarly to you except reversed tongue.gif
Also, I'm surprised this has done so well. Good job, guys.

I don't flame System fans, I scoff at them, and Britt Daniel (Spoon) and Kathryn Calder (TNP) have more awesometude in their belly button lint than Tankian could ever hope to achieve.

Anyway, to topicness, I'm a mac fan, but I don't blame PC fans for liking PCs. I'll defend Apple to the death if the Microsoft whore starts the fight, but other than that I don't care what computer you use.
NE_have_rabies
Yeah. So don't ruin the mood, Grym.
Super Gamer 117
Lets keep this up. Maybe Ill break 300 posts...

Oh wait! I JUST DID tongue.gif
Grym
Aw, I'm sorry. And my overly PC biased friends often find me defending Apple to the death because the way they think about mac and PC relations is the same way racists think: 'It's different so it sucks and lets beat on it.'
Super Gamer 117
I have nothing against Macs, I just think PCs are better.
Grym
Why so?
Super Gamer 117
Actually they are Personally better for me since I'm a heavy gamer.
Verbose
I've never seen any conclusive evidence that there's any real difference at all.

There are more PCs than Macs because PCs aren't run by a single company. This lets Mac advertise to devastating effect, by the way. Their smug marketing is brilliant.

But the range of quality in PC products is the result of many manufacturers. It's not company versus company comparing products here, people. It's Apple competing with dozens of other companies. Of course their product will be better than some of the others - Apple carved themselves a niche based on decent performance of their products and aimed themselves at the luddites and retards with their simplicity in marketing.
Super Gamer 117
I love those Mac commercials they used to air. With the PC guy always having to get an upgrade. It was genius.

They were smug and always innaccurate but carefully so.
Low-Key
Personally, I prefer PC's for a number of reasons. What's really funny is that the reasons that I prefer PC's are the reasons that the Mac commercials use as examples of Mac superiority.

The first being that you can actually upgrade a PC. A new Mac may be as good as a PC straight out of the box, but Mac's are notoriously hard to upgrade. This means that four years down the road, when processor speed, memory capacity, Hard-drive space, etc... have all quadrupled (See Moore's Law), my PC can still run at almost top-notch quality with a few simple upgrades, whereas if I want to upgrade a Mac, I have to buy a whole new system.

This also applies to things like computer cameras, monitors, and pre-installed software. With a Mac, you pay for all of these things upfront. They may increase functionality initially, at increased cost, but what happens if you want to upgrade your monitor from 17" to 21"? You have to buy a new system. And while you wire up an external monitor, or camera, you then have peripherals dangling off of your Mac. And you can't really hide the wires, because the computer and monitor are both one unit. (At least in a lot of macs, for some, this isn't the case.) And as far as the software goes, you're paying for all that extra functionality at the counter. So garage band may be cool, but what if I don't really want/need to create music? Then I'm paying for those functions without wanting to.

Thirdly, PC's can do everything a mac can do. And if you're smart, they can do it without being any less safe. I know that Mac's are lauded for their security (Something that's predicted to be changing very soon.), but the only time's I've had anything damaging enter my PC is when I've been blatantly stupid, such as turning off my firewalls and forgetting to turn them back on. Mac can now do everything that a PC can as well via bootcamp, it's true, but if I wanted to have to dual-boot to have full functionality, I'd just dual boot from my PC, which can also dual boot Linux, Unix, and any other no-name OS you can name with no problems.

And lastly, I just fucking hate that Mac kid.

(Note: This post is my opinion, and should be treated as such. This means, of course, that I am completely correct on every point, and that anyone who disputes, or disagrees with, said opinion is stupid... because I said so!)

Well, actually we've got a little program called system update, that tells you when a new upgrade is available. Not too hard to upgrade, cause all you do is press the button that says 'Download'. Tricky, eh?

Wow, Macs can upgrade their hardware via download?!

Grymsy, please keep up here. All the things he listed are physical parts of your computer, not programs or drivers that run those parts.
Super Gamer 117
Frankly, I don't care if I have a Mac or a PC. It all depends on weather or not I get onto this website and forum, Photobucket.com, and some type of paint program, with out using any money!
Grym
well... the 'Good paint program' thing might be a problem, macs one true failing point is graphic converter. I need something better, like coreldraw.
Super Gamer 117
Or Photoshop tongue.gif

but it takes money. Unless you download it illeagally . But i don't do those things

I figured out the problem the the Mac vs PC question... Link This is a good thing I believe.

I was reffing video games... It's annoying as as soon as you get a new game, tourvid card is miraculously outdated.
Super Gamer 117
Only for those online pay per month games. The other games I get from birthdays or Christmas mostly.
Verbose
And how many games do you buy?

I mean, you're lucky to see three decent games come out in a month usually. If you're buying three every month, stop buying the crap.

Edit: I suppose that would be six for you Americans. I was going off Australian pricing.
Grym
Well, actually that would only be for brand new games. Prices go down when games get older.
Verbose
I don't know many people who could or would buy that many games so often.

I think Mantigo Bay is doing it wrong.

Not for some. MYST is a really old game and it is still going for a lot of money
Grym
I have that game for mac version like, 9 or something.
Super Gamer 117
I want it so bad. My comp doesn't like Game tap mad.gif
And I don't have money to buy it.
Grym
My computers are too advanced, they won't let me play myst. Same for starcraft, which I also have.
Super Gamer 117
I play starcraft rarely now. I need to play it again.
Grym
I need to play it at all. It's the only RTS available for macs
Super Gamer 117
You need a PC See! tongue.gif
Grym
Why? Starcraft is also the best RTS
