Personally, I prefer PC's for a number of reasons. What's really funny is that the reasons that I prefer PC's are the reasons that the Mac commercials use as examples of Mac superiority.
The first being that you can actually upgrade a PC. A new Mac may be as good as a PC straight out of the box, but Mac's are notoriously hard to upgrade. This means that four years down the road, when processor speed, memory capacity, Hard-drive space, etc... have all quadrupled (See
Moore's Law), my PC can still run at almost top-notch quality with a few simple upgrades, whereas if I want to upgrade a Mac, I have to buy a whole new system.
This also applies to things like computer cameras, monitors, and pre-installed software. With a Mac, you pay for all of these things upfront. They may increase functionality initially, at increased cost, but what happens if you want to upgrade your monitor from 17" to 21"? You have to buy a new system. And while you wire up an external monitor, or camera, you then have peripherals dangling off of your Mac. And you can't really hide the wires, because the computer and monitor are both one unit. (At least in a lot of macs, for some, this isn't the case.) And as far as the software goes, you're paying for all that extra functionality at the counter. So garage band may be cool, but what if I don't really want/need to create music? Then I'm paying for those functions without wanting to.
Thirdly, PC's can do everything a mac can do. And if you're smart, they can do it without being any less safe. I know that Mac's are lauded for their security (Something that's predicted to be
changing very soon.), but the only time's I've had anything damaging enter my PC is when I've been blatantly stupid, such as turning off my firewalls and forgetting to turn them back on. Mac can now do everything that a PC can as well via bootcamp, it's true, but if I wanted to have to dual-boot to have full functionality, I'd just dual boot from my PC, which can also dual boot Linux, Unix, and any other no-name OS you can name with no problems.
And lastly, I just fucking hate that Mac kid.
(Note: This post is my opinion, and should be treated as such. This means, of course, that I am completely correct on every point, and that anyone who disputes, or disagrees with, said opinion is stupid... because I said so!)
