The Fork of Truth
I just wondered...how many different spells has Richard cast? Here's a list. (If you feel it is incomplete, please say so).

Fire Creation/Control
First used: Page 1 (he fries a bunny alive).

(Possible): Telepathy/ astral communication.
First used: pages 3/4 (he talks to Cale's ashes, and can communicate with him).

Transmutation.
First used: page 4 (he turns a Dwarf guard into a frog).

Ventriloquism.
First used: page 5 (he makes an Orc insult Benny's parentage).

Unknown Fire-like spell.
First used: page 8 (a blue-yellow flame engulfs his fists, and he presumably kills his assailants with it).

Necromancy.
First used: page 9 (he kills and renanimates Aelloon's men as skeletons).

Frost Creation/Control.
First used: page 12 (he freezes a Dragon).

Acid Arrows.
First used: page 14 (he creates a duo of green arrows).

Demon Summoning.
First mentioned: page 19 (he mentions Hctib Elttil, who he presumably summoned).

Soul Draining.
First mentioned: page 28 ("I drained the soul of a Monk once. It tasted like chocolate").

"Precursoral Glow".
First used: page 42 (a thin orange ring encircles his hands. Possibly part of a fire spell).

Unkown missile spell.
First used: page 45 (he kills/banishes a ghost with two red orbs).
A similar spell was used on page 52 against the Legion's men, only the missiles were orange.

Portal Creation.
First used: page 64/65 (creates a portal that crosses time).

Unknown explosion spell.
First used: page 81 (he explodes a Giriffin that had eaten him).

"Nether Beam" (at least, that's what I like to call it).
First used: page 86 (he fires a black/dark blue beam at an unknown target).

Electricity Creation/Control.
First used: Slaughter Your World (he fries numerous villagers and fluffy animals).

Face-melting.
First used: Slsughter Your World (he melts a group of villager's faces, making them fall in a domino-like pattern).

(Possible) Comet Creation
First used: Slaughter Your World (he fires a flaming chunk of rock at mourning peasants).

The Emperor of the Black has decided, in all his endless wisdom, to deny us any more glimpses of his awsome power. We can only wait.

Having carefully read the above, I will say... hmmm.
Really, I'm not sure what to say. Except two things...
One, the 'burn it with the full power of the sun' spell Richard uses on the sand dragon on page 58 is probably a separate spell, something like energy magnification...

Second, the fact that he communicates with an incinerated Cale is probably a quirk of Cale rather than Richard. I think. Besides, it seems that Benny was also able to hear Cale, otherwise she would've probably made a remark about Richard talking to himself. Maybe.

EDIT: Meh. On second though, on page 58 Richard is holding a pair of fireballs, so he probably turned the dragon to glass with a regular fire spell, and the 'full power of the sun' was just supposed to describe its intensity.

Nice work, Faorkie!

He must have mind powers if he says that his MIND can create arrows.
Rip Van Ishmael
The 'unknown missile spell' you mentioned where Richard 'kills' the ghost, I'm thinking that was a banishing spell. The guy had the audacity to come back after Richard killed him, so Richard sends him to whatever part of hell he has claim to, presumably to deal with him later, or have whatever's down there take care of it.

Then again, he uses something similar on pg. 52, this time against the kings sailors. The only difference I can see is the first was red, the second, orange.

Maybe it's a variation of the same spell, one that banishes already-deceased spirits, and another that does the same, only for living beings?
Frosti
Like normal fire 'n Soulfire?
Super Gamer 117
Also on pg 32 he uses waves of red magic

Is it fire? blink.gif
Rip Van Ishmael
Yea, I'm pretty sure thats fire. Some of these may be just variations of other spells, like having sweeping waves of fire instead of the usual fireballs. The 'unknown' spell up there, referring to the thin orange rings, could be nothing more than the precursoral glow to his usual fwoosh.

Most likely. They have a sort of firey look to them.

Meh. It doesn't look like a "fwooshy" spell to me.

Also, the list is updated.

'Precursoral glow' means the glow that would eminate from his hands as he was preparing his fwooshy spell, the immediate precursor to the mass of flames and FWOOSH we've all grown so fond of.
The Fork of Truth
Very true...it might have just been a little showing off, as well, and to serve as an emphaziser of the "FOR PONY!" warcry.
Rip Van Ishmael
Indeed.
The Fork of Truth
To resolve this petty debate between me and Rip, I've changed the "unknown spell" to "Prescural Glow". It's good to have names for things, anyway.

CODE
He must have mind powers if he says that his MIND can create arrows.

Well, I'd say all magic uses the power of the mind to some degree, and Richard saying "My magic can make arrows" wouldn't make much sense in the circumstances.

Not to, ah...escalate in any way, but it's spelled 'precursoral'. Just throwin that out there.
The Fork of Truth
So it is, sorry.

Edited.

Richard uses fire, ice and death magic. Period. The rest is mere window-dressing.
Or the occasional special effect inserted for comic relief - Richard can do X because it's funny at that moment.
Richard never created a portal himself, he merely powered up the statue.

Don't try so desperately to fit everything into "spells". Some games (like D&D) use distinct spells. Other games (i.e. Ars Magica, Mage, SAGA system, GURPS semantic magic, PP&P) simply use spheres of influence, like fire/water/air/earth, mind, necromancy, fate, plants, animals etc. and then allow the caster to chose the power level at which the magic manifests and the shape and function of the intended effect as he wishes, and to expend "mana points"/fatigue or whatever you wanna call it to power the magic just so that there's an artificial cap to player characters' might. Thus, lighting a candle with your mind or creating a huge fiery explosion in the shape of a phoenix bird would be basically the same effect, just at different power levels.

Heck, even some old AD&D article in DRAGON magazine brought up the idea that two technically identical spells cast by two different spellcasters need not look the same. Magic Missile, a force arrow, could have different colours or look like pieces of glass or ice or sharp bones, or a pancake, or whatever, it doesn't matter as long as it does the same sort of damage when it hits the target. Sadly, WotC dropped the concept again and d20 D&D instead invents different spells for everything and the kitchen sink. Turn something to ice? To glass? To stone? All different spells. *sigh*
Rip Van Ishmael
Wellll, don't you just know everything.

Yeah I do, isn't that great.

Seriously, I just want to stop the looking avalanche of a never-ending discussion about what spell exactly this effect or that effect that Richard used on page XX might have been under D&D rules or WoW magic or whatever. Richard's magic is basically a plot device, but so far it has pretty consistently fallen into the categories of fire, ice and necromancy, destructive magics. He doesn't use shielding like Benny.

He does. It's called chivalry
Rip Van Ishmael
Damnit, beat me to it. Although, I was gonna say he doesn't use shielding like Benny, he uses Benny as a shield.
Frosti
That's in fact what I meant. But it isn't a spell, though.

I'm not trying to set them to DnD or WoW rules at all. I just want to document the spells that Richard has cast in order to display his power and awsomeness.
Grym
Presumably he gets his spells off of some sort of scroll, as he stated he paid for the ventriloquism spell, and I doubt this is like WoW where the knowledge gets beamed to your skull in a flash of yellow light.

What kind of damage does it do against darkness?

Because I want to use magic missile to attack the darkness.
Grym
That is a funny movie... So hilarious.
Frozen_Sun
laugh.gif oh the memoires....they're so....gooey.
Grym
Remembering sex, or youtube!?
Frozen_Sun
A combination of the two acually. I shall explain no more.
Grym
...
Don't they, Y'know, not allow that stuff?
Grym
Please direct your attention away from the double post that did not happen

You're a bad, bad double poster today.

End this blatant derailing, people!!!
Frosti
That wasn't derailing. We've merely changed the rails.
ajnintaf
ok to put it back on the right rail. the uber spell that fried the dragon was non other than a epic version of the fireball. Bassicly (spelling) you drop a fire ball and fwish you have a class dragon ready to smash.
Frosti
Or he used a flamethrower spell. I think that's more practical.
blood_dodo
Napalm-ball while you're at it tongue.gif
Frosti
Molotov-blast
blood_dodo
Yeah, that atta do the trick... But still napalm is better when used in the right enviorment... Like forests.
Frosti
I could imagine Richard burning down a tropical rainforest
blood_dodo
Yeah... When I went to Cyprus to visit my aunt we went from Nikosia on a trip for 3 days. And we see this hill - no grass, no trees, no nothing. And she explains:
Here the turks used napalm to get rid of the natives hiding in the woods...
Yeah, so picture it - an army running from Richard's wrath and thinking they can lose him in a forest happy.gif One word: CARNAGE
Frosti
two words: Mass murder.

Who can to three words?
blood_dodo
All-out massacre.

Does that count?
Frosti
Meh, it's a gray zone.

But what would Richard do if he annihilated all life on earth?
blood_dodo
Skeletons?
Frosti
Revive averybody as skeletons 'n rekill them? Wow.
blood_dodo
Meh, why not? I can't see any other way for him to not get too bored...

---

We gotta install microwave ovens
Custom kitchen deliveries
We gotta move these refrigerators
We gotta move these colour tvs, lord
-> All times favourite happy.gif
Frosti
Why that?
blood_dodo
Well, what else to do?
I had this really strange nightmare (more like a thriller as to the level of "fear" in it) that i knew I was the last living human on Earth. I had provisons and I had locked the door cuz I was too scared of this freakin HUGE empty plase the world had became.
And then someone knocked on the door...
Needless to say I woke up from the shock.

As to the song - Money for nothing is a great one!
Frosti
If I had such a nightmare, it'd involve me being the only survivor, with the exception of some girl. Well, it always ended in total extinction.
