Good evening everybody.
Just wanted to introduce myself.

My name is Robin and I live in Moenchengladbach, Germany. I have been studying English and linguistics since April 2007 and will change to linguistics as my main subject next term, taking English as the language I mainly focuse on and Japanese as my second one. I am 22 years old and enjoy listening to music which most of the other people would describe as the background noise of a building site rather than music. My favourite beverage is beer and I really like smoking a sheesha (I don't know an English word for that. A sheesha is a waterpipe through which aromated tobacco is consumed) sometimes.

Since I don't know what else to write I think I am finished. If anyone wants to know something else, he is free to ask.

I don't know if it's called anything different elsewhere in the states, but here in California, it's usually called a hookah.

Bongs are usually only if marijuana is involved, hookah is flavored tobacco, and the devices are a little different.

I am focusing on British English, though the American dialect is an interresting thing to be looked at. I am also looking at Old and Middle English to understand the progress language has gone through. Linguistics is not about a specific dialect, it is more about looking at different dialects.
And don't be too sad. The German language is deteriorating, too. But those opinions are just a matter of taste.

And you are right. A bong is a device which differs from a hookah and which is used to consume marijuana. We also have this difference in Germany.

Heya! I'm William, aka TRM for those in the know, I'm about 5'6" on a good day buck fifty or so, blue eyes and a not so sharp wit. Regular poster over in LICD forums, but I recently came to discover (Though it should have occured to me earlier) that there was a forum here too, one in which I could sate my desire to run a small campaign in the RP section. It's been a while, so I decided to dust off my manuscripts, characters and world map so i could get down to some real roleplaying! Hopefully everyone here is as wonderful as they are over in the sister forum!
