If you're going to be nasty, at least be flattering and say I have serious psychoses.

Thanks for taking the 20 seconds to read this drivvel.
What kind of nerd and/or geek would need twenty seconds for a post that long? I feel vaguely insulted, new person.
I like that.

any chance to inadvertantly throw someone a backhanded insult and impress them at the same time is worthy of my time.
Im glad i could help.

Hey all. Been reading LFG for awhile now, been lurking around the forums as well. >;3
Figured I'd join, say Hi, have a lark or two... <<

No larks here.
There's a couple of chuckles and maybe a ball or two but no larks.

I had a lark once.
Pretty sure it didnt like the cage and left with my credit card.
they are angry and vengeful birds.
I would suggest a heron.
they tend to be more placid and easy to cater for.

Reason is something that is very selectively applied in these hallowed halls.

For instance, several large stabs. It would be nice if you stabbed annoying people, but as long as it's not me I'm cool with it.

No, the angles and the saxons were German mercs paid for by the king of wessex to beat the living snot out of the Picts, now I may have the brain the size of a sultanta but where did the Picts come from?
The Lone David
Jan 4 2008, 03:09 AM
The Saxons were scandinavians who invaded the british isles, settling and interbreeding with the Anglos who lived on the Island first. You should know this Joey.

LOOK, until you can tell me what Primogenita is, Who basil Lecapinous was, the EXACT date of charlemagnes corronation, the central tennents of the Rule of St Benedict, the Reason behind the crusaders states failure, the number of different Princeps under the romans, the reasons for the foundation and fall of Carthage and the Pope that first moved to Avignon
Then you have no right to tell me what I should and should not know

. Thank you.
*cough* sorry about that

'Sa right, I get touchy about the same things, although I still say you should take an asian history class, the intrigue the different chinese dynasties went through puts anything europe has to offer to shame.

Yes well, when you have an empire based around a beauracracy that is like a dead tree what can you expect, the west has mainly been full of violence, bloodshed and murder. Look how its turned out, we still churn out new crap every couple of years.
China used to do that until "This can do the work of 20 slaves" "So what, I have 20 slaves"
The Lone David
Jan 4 2008, 03:26 AM
They never quite grasped that if you had 20 slaves using 20 of those it's like having... uhm... a shitload of slaves...

Jan 4 2008, 03:48 AM
His Grandson Kublai did.
Josef bugman
Jan 4 2008, 03:49 AM
No, Kubali was the one that Marco Polo visited.
Jaghatai was the one that got as far as hungary, then died and they all went home to decide on a new leader.
The Lone David
Jan 4 2008, 03:51 AM
I had always read that Kublai took over China after the empire split into four different parts.
Josef bugman

No no, he reformed the ministry I think.
I'm not sure though.
The Lone David
Jan 4 2008, 03:55 AM
Might be something to look into. I'm fairly certain Tamarlane took power of the Southwestern portion before Kublai took over China though.

Intrigue in the West was spread out so it was a lot more fun to just go in with a sword. I mean, the English court was intriguing with itself as well as the French court, so it was team-building to attack the French.
It's when you have a lot of ambitious people vying for power in one kingdom without wanting to go elsewhere that you get the fancy intrigue.

You know I always wondered whether Ghengis Khan could have taken Alexander.
Probably but not through any fault of Alexander's. Ghengis Khan's people were nomadic and as a result his armies were mobile. Alexander fought to conquer land. It's hard to win a fight when somebody won't defend their geography and they're faster than you.
Hi, new people!

Alexander happened to have been following on from his dad, Philip could fight just as well

Jan 4 2008, 11:15 AM
Almost every empire of a size to have earned the name is fractured.
By the time travel and communication was quick enough, it was too hard to make one.

Because Baseball is thrill-a-minute action with supporters all around the globe, I suppose.
At least with modern cricket you aren't bound to the classic five-day Test Match. You have the One Day and the 20-20 for the shorter, more dramatic games.

A "no hitter" is a baseball game in which no-one on your opponent's team has successfully managed to hit a pitch with their ball-bats. Throwing a "no-hitter" means you were the pitcher who made it happen.
