The reason we have pain is because it makes other people happy! That's why we have Schadenfreude. :D Gary Coleman taught me all about it.

Was that a gigglesnort? Or something in your head breaking? Or was it you being angry at something being offensive? Or was it you thinking that the last option I just put out was completely absurd?

I'm not sure. I believe my mind destroyed the memory of whatever it was out of self-preservation.

come to think of it, lunaya, that is one big question. you shouldn't ask it casually and expect a worthy reply.
and personally, i don't know too much about SG117, but from what i DO know, i'm the reason. when he found out there were other lds on this forum, he changed everything about himself to fit in with these firends. either that or he wasn't expecting it and didn't want to be caught off guard.

The gF
Dec 24 2007, 07:07 AM
It makes fun of the parallels between Cale and Drizzt Do'Urden, the infamous Drow. Cale's character is very much an homage to Drizzt, who also sought to be a good member of an evil race, who also had a black panther companion, and who also slayed an Earth Elemental in that exact fashion. XD
Zulchep
Dec 24 2007, 07:09 AM
Not that *exact* fashion but pretty close to it. I tried to find a scan from the comic version of Homeland, where Drizzt kills the earth elemental, but couldn't find it.
Figures that my brother-in-law has my copy.

Except that Sohmer told us he had never even
heard of Drizzt until after he created Cale. =P

After witnessing the power of religion first-hand on pages 105-106?

Some revelation. ^^
As for the whole Drizzt thing, I really don't get why Cale can't possibly be a homage to Drizzt. Just because Lar hadn't known about Drizzt back when he came up with Cale doesn't mean he wouldn't use him as a parody ground when he DID find out about him.
In a nutshell, the idea of a uniquely good elf with a black panther companion as well as dual-wielding and archery skills may not have been homage to Drizzt, but what's to stop him from becoming one?

Yeeees. This is my point exactly.
The parallels ARE there and have been from the beginning. It just seems that since Sohmer discovered a certain CG Drow that Cale has become a bit more of a parody/homage.

That part of the story was told by Richard, and was made up on the spot for his amusement.
The text squares have red linings, which unfortunately don't show very good.
Therefore, the "dark lord" is supposed to look like Richard, since he is probably imagining himself enslaving all dragons.
