Yeah, that's pretty much it.

Open comic in Paint, zoom in 'till the text is huge, copy and paste letters from other comics and panels into a white box, paste the whole thing into the speech bubble.
Not exactly complicated, but it can take some effort and some don't bother with it. I just like it to look authentic.

It would be funniest if Cale did that, but Pella's got the personality that's closest to coming up with that.

And if Cale did it, he'd get fwoomed. If Pella did it, Richard would take it in stride. Richard and Pella's senses of humor are more compatable than Richard with Cale's.
