I just tried CorelDRAW as a trial and i cant even figure out how to make shapes. Anyone know of tutorial vids? I could really use them, but till then ill take pencil or charcoal over freaky computer mumbo jumbo anyday, yes, good solid paper and pencil

What should I draw though? I want a project to do specifically, one where I have a specific objective so I dont just doodle for five minutes and then forget about it.

Suggestions anyone?
Devin Austra
Uhm, I just posted one, right above your post.
If you've seen the cartoon, that's a plus.

Late last week an idea came to me after all of the closed "Richard is the Archmage" threads. I was thinking about a piece that has the Archmage's head laying there with about 1/4 of the face/skull broken away and Richard's eye/nose inside. Ala Luke/Vader from ESB.
ryannayr417
That sounds cool, i think im gunna try it
pentheraphobia
I need a scanner, badly. I've a few to post now. (Nope, I'm actually too poor to afford going to the library. tongue.gif)

No, I'm serious. Unless you're using something better than Essentials 2, which is what I use, as far as I know that's the only way you're going to get shapes.

And that's why the Corel Painter series earns their
place in my list of "Programs that make me tear my hair out in
frustration"

GIMP?

Well..I -can- draw shapes, the trouble is there aren't
enough basic tools to go around.(at least, less than OpenCanvas at
its most basic)
Frozen_Sun
Heh heh heh. Photoshop rulez.
Grym
Not until they port their software onto the mac dry.gif
Lunaya
This has probably been covered before, but how much do drawing tablets go for and what software are you supposed to use with them?
Rip Van Ishmael
Imaginaaaatiooooon.

I dunno, whatever software they come with and the drawing/editing program you're most comfortable with.

That's my guess anyway.

So, I've got a funny story to tell!

I've got this awesome new apartment right? That I got at the first of the month... Signed the lease and everything! The past two weeks I've been sitting here with all my crap packed, waiting for the management to tell us when we can start moving in. They just got a hold of us (after much harassing on our part) and let us know that we can start moving in!

...

Next Wednesday. After 5 p.m. >.>

Anyway, the point of this little rant story is to let you guys know that I have some fan art ready to scan for you guys, but with everything all packed up and waiting to move, I wont get around to posting it for about another week or so x_x

I even drew a pic of Ray'd n_n
Lunaya
O.O *is on pins and needles* Crap. I think I'm sitting on my aunt's sewing kit.
Rip Van Ishmael

I just bought a wacom intuos3 9x12 through amazon @ $411.00 with shipping.(the cheapest I could find for non students teachers) It came with Photoshop essentials 6, corel painter essentials 4 some brushes for photoshop CS.

It also comes with electronic coupon ID#'s to get photoshop CS and corel painter X for half off. which is an amazing deal.

So far I've been using corel essentials 4 and It's ok. I wish there were more bruses and it does kinda flake out now and then but it's ok. I wouldnt have wanted to pay full retail for it tho ($100) I would feel pretty ripped off with the bugs. (becomes unstable and has to close if you open/close a lot of files in a row) or at least I think that's what's up.

Photoshop essentials seemed completely worthless for drawing/painting. Tho I think it's meant more for photo editing. And who really cares about that?

If you want to go with a tablet that lets you draw right on a built in monitor the cintiq is what youre looking for and the cheapest one is 12" corner to corner and is $1000.00 or a 21" version for 2500.00.

Can't wait to show you guys what I've been working on.
Lunaya
Thanks Verne.

XD Andurin, that totally made me laugh.

photoshop elements is pretty worthless for creating art. If you want to edit photos it's ok but forget drawing/painting with it.

Hahaha! Princessmagpie, that's just too frakin' awesome! If... slightly disturbing XD I love it, now make me one! :-p

I know, I'm an eccentric, and proud of it. *lol* I'm glad you like my doll. wink.gif
Rip Van Ishmael

What.....what exactly is going on in that picture?
NE_have_rabies
It's better not to ask such things, Ishy.
Rip Van Ishmael
First the horses, now this.

She might not be as straightforward about it, but I think Magpie has you beat when it comes to Cale torture, Rabies.

What I do in the privacy of my own bedroom is my business. wink.gif

Rip Van Ishmael
The creepiness of that [first] statement is magnified tenfold by the knowledge of what resides in your bedroom.

And so, it just means the 'stallions' calenders connote beastiality.
princessmagpie
Well, forget you, then. I never said I was doing anything sexual with the doll; I just meant I keep him in my bedroom. It's my business if I want to keep him there.
Rip Van Ishmael
Hey, I'm not the one who gets guys to take their shirts off and stand near horses Equus-style for a profit.

And for the record, I never said anything about sex at any point during this e-conversation.

Whadda ya know, Freud was right.
princessmagpie

Look, I'm sorry. I don't want to make an issue out of this. I normally have a sense of humor; I'm the first to admit I'm eccentric, so I tend to do things out of the ordinary.

Can we call a truce?
CrystalSuicune
Now I -really- hate the fact that mental images exists.

And wow, somebody managed to best Rabies on something
she does best...time to hold a Most Disturbing LFG Art Contest!XD
Rip Van Ishmael
W000t!

*lol* I think I should win an award for the most disturbing image! I'm sure there aren't many people who make life-sized dolls of their favorite characters.
Rip Van Ishmael
I've considered asking for a life-sized Richard figure but I've grown attached to sleeping at night. Or at all.
