We all love movies, and I know people like to post their favorite movies. But that has been done to death. So I'm going to send out a question I haven't seen on a forum yet. What's the movie (or movies) that make you cry? I'm especially curious to see the response from those of us of the male persuasion (of which I am a part).
I'll start the show with my 3 top picks of films that get my water works aflowing.
1. Rent (an awsome musical in its own right outside of the current topic)
2. Its my party (if you haven't seen this one, you should)
3. Fining Neverland (I'll admit this wasn't intended to make people cry, but it struck a cord with me)
I may ad more in a later post, but thats all I got for now.
Next!

When I was little, the only movie that ever got me going was Ghostbusters. Poor Stay Puft Marshmallow man.
As for me being an adult, I have never actually cried at/during/about a movie. I almost cried because of how BAD a movie has been, but that was mainly cause I wasted money on it.
I've been with many girls that have cried during movies, and my ex cried during Rent (AKA "we all have aids the musical"). It's not that I don't watch movies either, I try and see every movie I can... I just haven't found one that actually makes me cry.

also, any movie with anything hinting at a sad part makes me cry

Diffrent people will resonate with different things. Besides not all films make you cry because they're sad, some make you cry because they make you happy (I know it sounds weird, but its true), and some make you cry becaue they deal with issues you which have either gone or are currently going through. (An example for me was Finding Neverland, I had bad issues with escapism for awhile)

Yes, Princess Diaries. Overall it is a cute and funny movie but there is a part towards the end where I definitely got misty-eyed. Might be a girl thing.

I liked that movie, it did have some sad parts in it. I get a little teary eyed during any movie with a son and a dad who are fighting but make up at the end. But a movie, well more like a 6 part anime series was "Now and Then, Here and there." there is a few scense that really man make you really depressed same thing goes for Grave of the fireflies.

I'm not ashamed of crying while watching Dragonheart or something like that, just about the Tigger's movie thing.
I mean: there you are at the cinema, watching the Tigger movie together with I don't know how many 3 year olds and you're the 16 year old crying like a baby because Tigger's sad...

Also, no shame in crying over the Tigger Movie. I cried at the Veggie Tales movie when I saw it in the theater.

I agree to that. I really hated the Eragon movie. So I keep on reading the books and cry over those, at least in my imagination Saphira looks like a dragon in stead of a strangely mutated bird.

Does anyone else laugh at the end of really cheesy love movies? Or is that just me? I laughed at the end of The Notebook. I thought maybe it was just the director's doing, so I bought the book. Nope. Still laughed. Rather hard too. I have no soul to speak of...

Would you call final destination a cheesy movie? I laughed my ass off watching that.

Oct 5 2007, 07:03 AM
No. But after the fourth one... yeah. I wanted to call up Death.
SAYURI: So, Death, did you know they're making another movie mocking you?
DEATH: You've got to be kidding me. Do you know how many of those actors' careers I demolished?
SAYURI: I figured as much, just wanted to let you know.
DEATH: So, who do they have doing the voice-over? Not the guy who did the Ring from LOTR?
SAYURI: No voice-over, pal. You're invisible again. Simply a personified entity.
DEATH: That is such a cop-out. Seriously. Who do I have to kill to get a better reputation?
SAYURI: I hear Steven Spielberg is going to be in town...?
DEATH: No, he already sold his soul to Beelzebub to make E.T. Killing him wouldn't benefit me.
SAYURI: What about the people who did "Friends?"
DEATH: Once again, no benefit to me. I'm keeping them alive so I don't have to put up with their cornfed antics in the afterlife.
SAYURI: What about Judge Judy?
DEATH: Would you want to deal with her for eternity?
SAYURI: She's going to purgatory? I was sure she was bound for Hell.
DEATH: So did I until I read her transcripts. Satan would just murder me.
SAYURI: There you go. You could always commit suicide.
DEATH: You're funny, Lisa. Real funny.

I have to admit... I did shed a tear at Old Yeller. That was mainly because the dog didn't argue with some big-chested girl before being crunched by on-coming traffic. However, I digress, I did laugh at the end when I realized that in the background of the last shot... there is a hunter in the trees waiting to decapitate the little boy. You don't see him at first, but he's there... he's there...

The movies that really get me are the ones where some little kid nearly dies or does die because the adults around him/her are complete idiots. Like Silent Hill, or The Ring.
Yeah, take your adoptive daughter to some condemned mining town, and don't tell anyone, I mean anyone, about it. Really, how stupid can you be? Yeah, or maybe you should leave a possessed video tape you are researching because it could have killed someone and leave it lying around the house for your kid to watch. Really intelligent! Capital idea! That's good parenting
In all seriousness, LOTR made me cry alot, in a good way, just because it was a beautiful and well made adaptation.

Movies it's universally okay for guys to cry at:
Old Yeller
Any movie in which John Wayne's character dies.
Rudy
Brian's Song
It's a Wonderful Life
That's pretty much it, according to most male types.
I'll add:
What Dreams May Come
Mr. Holland's Opus
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Saving Private Ryan
Moulin Rouge
There are also a few chick flicks that got to me, but I don't want to admit which ones...

Anything with sadness makes me cry. Even in the real world, which is mostly why I became a pacifist. Cause I feel like shit when I make someone sad. And when people are angry, that frightens me
