I noticed, you never see his ears at any time, so could it be he is an undead vulli? It would explain the evil, and his knowledge of them (comics 1&2)

Hmm, I dunno about that one. Elves in general (Cale being the posterchild for this) have feminine features. Richard most certainly doesn't have feminine features. Unless you count the dress.

if he was a Vulii you would see his ears sticking up from his cowl, but you can't so he either doesn't have ears or he isn't a Vulii

Maybe he's really that guy from the torture scene in Reservoir Dogs, but after he became undead he cut off the other ear for symmetry?
