on my pc i have both win xp and Linux (Kubuntu)

to tell the truth kubuntu is so easy and good that the only reason i keep windows on is for games

anyway just wanted to open the floor for discussion on the subject

what do you use? why? and what do you prefer?

I have a mac, been using them all my life so it would be difficult to switch over to a pc.

I use windows at home and my school ran on Mac. I prefer Windows because of it's ease of use and compatability. Macintoshes are just annoying to use. As long as I have my "Start Menu" I'm fine, but if tossed onto an iMac all I can do is sit and curse Steve Jobs.

Im using windows just because im a gamer and a grafic designer. And 3D progs suck on mac (Cinema 4D..great..pixel cemetery ^^).
I hate windows, but it cant be avoided (for me).
I never really got into linux. Just some basics..

I have both Windows and Ubuntu running in my household. I enjoy Windows for the games and ease of use, but I truly hate it's closed-minded attitude. On the other hand, Ubuntu is free and customizable, which allows my spirit to soar free. Unfortunately, I need both of them. I have to give an even 2 thumbs up for both.

Windows for gaming (until I find an emulator, the I dump this garbage) and Ubuntu for everything else.

I use windows / mac (whatever i have on hand) . I'm really not picky. Linux takes too much effort for what i want to do anyways. I'm not some uber hacker game playing whatever person. I had a microsoft pen when i was serving, and one guy gave me 15 minute lecture as to why microsoft sucks.. My step father works for microsoft, and i get a bunch of free / discounted stuff because of it.. as far as I'm concerned, i love microsoft

i refuse to buy vista! i tried it out on my step dads computer.. i'm very happy with my windows XP, and i think i'm going to skip vista and wait for the next one to come out. It always seems like microsoft skips a system. i can't really explain, because my ability to write as well as speak today is all..funky. *shrug*

If you have XP, you are doing fine. Of course, someday Vista will take over. Just make sure you have at least 2 gigs of memory, an awesome graphics card and stress relief when it does.

I've only ever used a Mac for my communication tech class and that was for video and audio sections or work.

I'm so used to windows that I'd never be able to work anything. Plus my computer is still in the new shiny stage of its life so I wouldn't want t switch now even if I could work it out... I can finally play Oblivion now... so very happy

well most of my machines are running windows (in some form or other, i think i still have one somewhere running windows 3.1), used to have an old mac II but haven't seen that in a while. and a laptop or two with some form of linux (atleast one with knoppix and one with debian). i use windows mostly for the amount of software for it (namely games) but wish more things worked with linux.

and then there are some that don't have any like my Amigas, C64s, timex sinclairs and other assorted stuff. the last time i counted the number of computers in my house it numbered around 28 or something close.

And I LOVE it.

I've used PCs through my life until a few years ago when my dad decided that I needed a Mac for my schoolwork. I didn't complain. I'm neutral with PCs and Macs, oh noez.

Only reason i dislike windows is because of Vista and its ability to kill non licensed file (Pirate for life!)

And well, most big game makers co-operate with Windows. And i've never seen linux or mac coming out with a gaming console like Xbox
