i'm creating this topic because one of the other threads started to go off on a tangent. talk in here about tattoos you have, are thinking of getting, any questions you have about tattoos or ones you've seen. pictures are welcome.

to start off, these are my current two:

Hunter
Are you saying you don't like my derailing the thread by actually just posting a picture and saying I want it on me until something happens to the bit of skin?

no, i'm saying most of the stuff posted after that belongs in a seperate thread
Hunter
Hence my comment on derailing, though unintentional someone (Grubz) took that tattoo idea and ran with it only to derail it and be silly. But this is what I want again, still not overly sure where I want it though.

i believe you said that was the sign for virgo, if so, that is a sensible idea for a tattoo where as some random caracter from a game or show or movie would definatly fall under things to stay away from. someone from my boot camp division had a smily face with the words 'shit happens' tattoo'd on their ass. they lost a bet in collage. when our one of our RDCs (navy version of drill sargeant) found out, he (the RDC) said that they were going drinking the weekend after our graduation(probably hoping to get him to lose another bet). the one on my upper right arm is my last name before it was anglesized (to weir). well another guy in my boot camp divition had his last name tattoo'd on the back of his shoulder, his last name was Butts. we jokingly asked if that was so his one night stand's would remember his name in the middle of sex. if that was my last name, probably wouldn't get it as a tattoo.
Robomanjr

I want to get that.
Ghislord
First one I got about 8 years ago

Then I got

2 dragon just in case you can't tell tongue.gif

for some reason i'm not seeing your images

Since I am work, and I have no cam at home, I'll just settle to describe my tats.

On my left leg, on the left outside of my shin, I have a Yin & Yang symbol.

On my right leg, on the right outside of my shin, I have a Pentagram.

On my back, I have a huge ongoing piece of work going. I started it last month, and it will take me next year to finish due to expenses.
BloodyPiper
I'm getting one done in a bit (when I get the funds)

I don't have the picture right now. But it's a dagger and a key lying together. It was drawn by my friend who is an amazing artist and has special meaning to me.

I also want to get a pair of black angel style wings with the word's FALLEN between them. Which is something once again special to me.
Felixaar
Ghislord, Your red eyes scare me. No'fence.

And I have a wicked oil burn that looks like a tattoo... 'sat count?

The first one looks like a really wicked dragon. no offense, but the second one looks more like a bunch of squiggly lines. with wings.
HellPuppi
Well, here's what I stuck in the other derailed topic....

Also have a tat of Anubis on my other shoulder, and one of Hobbes from Calvin and Hobbes on my leg.
Re-designing wings for my back atm. Probably get it when I have the money (it will also have alucard from hellsing =P)

Was also thinking of 2 revolvers to show my love of Stephen King's gunslinger series, but my current design has been shot down because it's in the 'tramp stamp' area,
The Lone David
I pity the day when you are all 65 and the tatoos dont look at all the same cuz your skins all wrinkly.

I have a drawn-on tatoo of the Hitman symbol on the entirety of my back, my (sort of) girlfriend insisted it be put there.

This is why I shall only ever mark my scapula.

Unfortunately, I can't find a design of "EGO SVM" I like enough to put there.
HellPuppi
I'm not planning on living 'till 65...

*lights cigarette*

Kinda hoping for that whole Apocalypse thing. If it doesn't pan out by my mid-forties I'm thinking of going Tyler Durtan on everyones a$$es.

Aside from that I have enough scars covering my body to where I actually wanted ART on myself instead of just the wear and tear of time.
Don't put me down 'cause I gots the tat's, man =P
Verbose
I gotta say, nobody here has impressed me too much. But then, my uncle has full sleeves, my dad has half sleeves and another uncle has more than a dozen prison tats despite never being in prison.

I think I liked Ghis' the most, but they're a bit more ostentatious than I like. I prefer something a little more streamlined and elegant.

Or obscene. Those are also good.
darkdragonh8
In which case they'd be translated to arousing in Verby's dictionary.

Tattoos are something I don't really figure on, next to piercings. Is it necessary to drive needle points coated with ink into your flesh to gain an attractive status?
Grym
Yes. Yes it is. That or getting "enhancements"

Y'know a good tattoo? Two wings spreading out from next to your spine to the edge of your back
The Lone David
You know a better tattoo? one that isnt permanent, so that when you freakin old that mermaid on your lower back doesn't look like IZ.
darkdragonh8
Depends on the wings though. There are far too many bat wings, dragon wings, faery wings, angel wings, etc. It's good, which means it lacks originality.

The common tattoo is usually of tribal style, on the arm or shoulder. Then comes the usual stuff. There's also the Japanese tattoos that cover a good portion of your upper body.

I concur with TLD's comment. Nothing is more disgusting than seeing a relic of the old ages, long-forgotten and left to rot in the dust and ashes of dreams long past.
Grym
That would kinda suck
HellPuppi
O_o

I didn't get a tattoo to be attractive. If I wanted that I'd be the chick with piercing all up her back to make it look like a corset. I got a tattoo for the memories.

Seriously guys can't a person just get a tattoo without the parental discussion of what'll look like when i'm older/in a wedding dress/ have kids?

I'm never going to be attractive. I have a foot-long scar that has wreaked havoc on my chest. I have smaller scars from the same incident all over my body. Next to that getting a freakin' wolf on my arm to remind me to not let people push me around seems pretty low-key.
Grym
Now that doesn't necessarily make you unatractive. I think scars are cool, (though I'll probably outgrow that by the time I'm 14)
Renasko
I have one - on my left shoulder-blade. It's taken from George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series. It's a Stark direwolf and says their motto (or whatever you wanna call it): 'Winter is coming'

I like it. Pics may follow...
Rae-Rae =^.^=
I've always been a fan of artful mutilation. Even van Gogh cut off his own ear in the name of art. When put in perspective, tattoos and scars aren't all that profound.

Tattoos are stories and memories, as it has been previously stated. They are forever, and they should be something you would gladly take with you and show off for that long. I think of scars the same way. They prove that you've lived and experienced things, that you have character. Although some people may think of them as grotesque, I love scars, they make great small talk when meeting people and are a constant reminder of days of old.

I'm iffy on piercings. I want some myself, and that is for cosmetic reasons. Just like any jewelry, though, if you don't like it anymore, take it out and let it heal. It never truly becomes part of the skin the way tattoos and scars do. They're just as much decoration as regular earrings, necklaces, and bracelets.
Grym
Get a tattoo too remember something. otherwise, you'll probably regret it.
Jabba
im a getting a tattoo of my avatar, LOZ is my one true love so i WANT it on my body at least once. biggrin.gif
Grym
where ya gonna put it?
The Lone David
Just don't put it where you would put human lovers... ouch blink.gif

i agree. have some scars on my side from an old bike accident about 10 years ago. i'm sure from the side of the road it probably looked like i was doing a superman impression just before i hit the ground. unfortunatly i don't have a mark on me from my worst accident, hitting water at over 80 Knots isn't fun. but that was two weeks after i got my first tattoo (shoulders, they had just finished healing) so that's sort of linked with that memory (and lack there of for the following weekend since my head hit first)
Grym
jabba, put the tattoo of your avatar on your upper back, with the wings just touching your shoulders that'd be cool
Hunter
van Gogh actually cut off his ear in an attempt to make the voices in his head stop.
Grym
That is ALMOST funny. not quite
GothicMoocow
The whole zelda symbol is nice, i kidna want my avatars tattoo also. Expect without the writtin in the middle, was thinking more along the lines of a "Cancer/ying~yan" symbol

I have always been a fan of tattoos. I find them very attractive on women. But I am not a fan of piercings. I had my tongue, and my nipples pierced at one time. It felt uncomfortable after a while, so I removed them. I still have both my ears pierced, though I rarely put rings or studs in them anymore.

I've often found that your tattoos are going to fade. It's just like anything else in this world; nothing lasts forever. But I recently had my tattoos retouched so they won't look nasty when I reach that age of retirement. I figure I'll have to retouch them again in another 10 years.

I like to receive tattoos as works of art, not as memories. That's why I don't have any ex-girlfriends' names on my body. I always look for the best tattoo artists, so I can show off their art. That's also the reason why my tats cost me a dime as well.

I wasn't making a joke, van Gogh was going (more) insane because of his mental illness.

yeah, it makes me laugh when I see all the 18 year old girls go for the multi-coloured flowers and butterflies when it will be a pain in the ass to retouch then while the one I want will be faster.

An english to Verby dictionary consists of "words = aroused"

Once again, scapula. Something has to be terminally wrong with you if you stretch or wrinkle there.

Well the plan was to get it on my upper right arm, i am probably going to get dragon wings on my back, its not long away till i get it actually, september is when i get it done, i might get something different though to start me off.

also scars dont look cool, i have so many its insane, dont get scars, they are horrible. I have 5 scars on just my hands (not counting knuckles) they arent attractive, though chicks really do dig scars, its the truth, i got all my girls so far because they wanted to see my scars... i have a few in... erm... interesting places?
Grym
I ask you to please refrain from describing how you got those.
Jabba
fights, my dads homocidal attempt, glass, childhood abuse, 10 years of bullying and being a figure skater

also i have fallen of a lot of shit in my time
Hunter
I must give your props for being a figure skater, you must have awesome balance.
BloodyPiper
Being a figure skater... that's just awesome.

Bully's give far to many kids hassle and problems. I went through alot of shit as a kid because of them, missed the larger part of primary school and have been given scars etc because of them aswell. Good thing im a reasonably tank now and nobody trys and takes me on and I don't have to deal with people hassling me... except for the number of people that call me a girl because I have long hair...
Hunter
Hold on, you are a Kiwi and you skate, I knew you guys had snow for skiing but ice too, I am amazed.
The Lone David
There are suck things as indoor rinks Hunter...
Jabba
yeah england doesnt have any REAL snow, or any REAL ice, we have the "indoor" synthetic crap kind. But yeah its all fun, dont do it so much anymore though, i tend to do normal 4 wheel skating, still the prancing like a fairy kind tongue.gif but less blades and ice lols. Being bullied isnt so much of a problem for me i mean after about the 7th year i became pretty freaking tough, though im going to the gym soon again, surprise my gf with larger muscles for when she gets back from blackpool ^^

also on the tattoo front im definately getting a stylised M because i am a vergo, thats what im getting in september if i like it i will get the zelda one across my arm, and if i ever get enough money i will get the dragon wings about next year biggrin.gif
The Lone David
The one and only time I took shit for something other than my religion I dished it back with twice the intensity, and now the guy's scared of me.
Jabba
see now thats the thing i never understood, first time i was beaten up when i was all mended i broke a dudes arm, retaliation never EVER worked for me, the day i became a pascifist was the day people stopped bullying me, which was nice
BloodyPiper
Yea. I used to do play Ice Hockey here in NZ but I had to give up for money reason, hour long drive just to get to Ice rink for a game and training, not worth it. So im stuck with playing roller hockey with friends at primary school basket ball courts. Still fun.

Pacifism works for me, as alot of my friends say, im the nicest calmest person they now, wouldnt hurt a fly. But people still, for reasons unknown are scared of me. It comes in useful I must say though.
