Ah yes. Suikoden. Where do I start? Well, it's a great RPG series made by Konami with a basis around enriching characters, some better then others. Usually, you have about 108 characters per game, referred to as the "Stars of Destiny". The characters differ from each game, but some make reappearances. The main hero usually carries a specific or exotic weapon that is very real, and usually having to do with Martial Arts. You do not have to recruit all the characters to beat the game, but it does affect your ending.

There are about five games in the series. Many people consider the second game the best, and after three, things didn't look so good until the fifth game was released, putting the game back into spotlight.

The hero's are usually known to be the "silent protagonist" types. In each game, as stated above, the usually had an interesting weapon.

#1: The hero in this game carried a Bo Staff, a simple long wooden staff used by monks for fighting.

#2: The hero uses a set of Tonfas, strange stick like weapons used to increase the damage of punches, as well as being spun around.

#3: This game gets complicated. In fact, this game is where the series started to go to hell. There was no real "main hero" as you played from the perspective of three groups, and no one carried any specific weapon.

#4: The series fixed the battle system, but people still didn't come around. The hero wielded two swords. (Hardly unique)

#5: Konami finally recovered it's senses with this game. Nice characters, improved battle system, and the hero is excellently balanced as a Mage/Fighter Hybrid, using a Tri-Sectional staff.

presonaly i think chrono trigger and golden sun 1+2 are better

Chrono Trigger and Suikoden have things that balance each other out, in my opinion. Chrono Trigger had an excellent story, but the character personalities were a bit...lacking. Suikoden puts a lot of work into this, but Suikoden's plot is not for everyone.

Golden Sun....it's alright. I love playing it, but it's just another save the world plot with added texture. That's why I like Suikoden. It's more political.

Maximillian > everyone. God, I loved that awesome ol' Don Quixote dude. I've played 1-3 (and still have 2, which I've been informed is worth a lot of money), but missed out on 4 and 5. I also picked up Suikoden Tactics when it hit the bargain bin, and, uh...I'd really like to put it back in the bargain bin. I've never hated a main character so much in my life.

Seriously, I wanted to rip the kid's throat out. I was hoping they'd at least change voice actor after the intermission, but nope, same guy. Or girl. I don't know, all I know is I want him dead.

Suikoden 3 was cool, though smile.gif Knight-Lady and Geddoe rocked, even though Tribal Boy was kind of annoying.

The third game had a great story, but I wanted ton kill whoever designed the battle system.
