I think actually that ferrets are considered exotic animals in California and New York City and have also been classified as dangerous wild animals. Nevermind the fact that they do not exist in the wild (the wild black footed ferret is actually NOT a ferret) and have been domesticated over a bajillion years. They are the lamest dangerous exotic pet ever- they poop in their litter box and then try to eat my pasta. That is the most sinister thing they are capable of. Oh, and they also pick up anything lying around the house and put it away behind the couch. Those tidy little bastards!

Oddly enough, there are loads of people with ferrets in both California and New York. They're tiny and make no real noises. I've even seen a couple at the Forty Tryon Medieval Faire in NYC with about 7 of them on leashes. They were having a great time! Unfortunately they get bad press, like that well-publicized incident where the puppy pit bull ate a baby's toes and they blamed it on the ferret. Honestly, they have sharp teeth, but they mostly use them to bite each others butts. They're far too curious and precocious to concentrate on something like that for long periods of time. Awww little tiny ferrets, so cute!

I want a ferret! But I guess they wouldn't mix well with catzes...

A friend of mine has a kitty AND ferrets! They have a great time together, well they did once the cat established himself by dragging them around a bit.

They do actually. We have 2 cats and a dog as well as ferrets and they all play together rather nicely.

Pets... I used to have pets, too... Now if I have one, hopefully, it's one that would like to interact with me... with some sort of physical touch since they used to either bar themselves from me through a cage or a glass/plastic wall.

The foxes look nice... But of course, carnivores... hard to live with sometimes.

What's so bad about carnivores? I have a hybrid wolf and he's done nothing to harm any of our other animals!
