Is it me or has Lar become a better artist since the start of the strips? Really has gotten an upgrade or something, compare Benny pg. 51 to Benny pg. 5. Much sexier, much better drawn. Richard's armor and facial expressions are more distinguishable now, and Cow (oops, lol) has gotten more of a refined look compared to the banner above where he looks like a grumpy slouch. Cale... he wasn't eye candy to start with anyway.
Edited for new info, I always wondered what Lar did

No pal, Lar DeSouza (as seen in the banner) does all the artwork. Sohmer is the writer
as for getting better, I don't think it's a question of better, it's just that he's finding his groove with the characters. as time progresses, the designs will become more and more polished. He's as kick ass as he's always been

Thanks for the info, edited some so I don't look like an idiot. Wonder if I can blame it on 'my mind was somewhere else', meh
. I guess your right about Lar, now that I think about it if there isn't anything wrong in the first place how can 'better' apply? Hmmmm..
Note: Editing done, no longer an idiot

I don't know about "improved", just, streamlined perhaps? After 50 pages of the same characters (and who knows how many drafts) the characters are bound to see some changes.
Personally I'm a bit sandy about Gid's humanisation, I liked the earlier look - and the less shapely females the better; They only serve the agitate reader's glands, and these forums are intolerable enough without the addition of some drooling gits.

i have noticed lots of things different that are on the comics now that weren't there in like the first few strips. for one, Richard's chin used to be waaay out of place, and his eyes were outlined too much. now, he's looking great. for Benny, her eye lids (i can't tell if they are still there...) used to be a deep purple color, really pretty. now, they're just green. and for Cale, his lips used to be like a kinda heart-shape-ee style, but now they're just like anybody elses mounth. great improvement, except for one thing.... i liked those eyes Benny had, lol !

I can't quite see what you mean about Richard's eyes...unless it's somewhere in the middle of the comic where his eyes are more outlined than they are now.
Benny did lose the purple (I assume it was a little bit of makeup, and now that she's 'on the run,' she no longer has the time to put it on...or just doesn't have it with her), and now has an eye color. Quite fascinating, but I prefer her old look.
And for that matter, I found Cale's unique mouth shape more amusing, as well.

Actually, he looked a little too George W. Bush to me with that mouth shape.
O.o
Sorry! But in every political cartoon of Dubya I've seen, he has that dip in the upper lip. It weirds me out. It kinda worked for Cale for a while -- something about it made him look so achingly sincere -- but I definitely don't mind its taking a hike.

The cape makes the man... er, the elf. Well, Cale's man enough to wear tights, and pull it off. But he really looked better with the damn shirt on.

Anyway, yes, the character-designs are definitely more refined now. Also how Benny keeps that top on will remain one of the great mysteries of the universe... oh my god, maybe it's nothing but water-resistant body paint? A tattoo?
A wizard did it.

As i see it, he just improved his range of tools. So I voted No. But i think he has ever since the start been an admirable artist.
(just one thing, i dont like is how, there are these "shining" light reflexion on pretty much everything but thats probably just my personal taste)

somehow I find LFG to be lacking both in spirit and the art, can't quite put my finger on it why. I enjoyed this comic in the beginning, but now the whole thing just seems, well, boring. Maybe the creators are trying too hard to be funny, which they really aren't, the jokes are boring at best and the characters feel Garfield-like (created to make money). I'll admit I don't know anything about the backgrounds of the creators, whether they were creating comics before starting LFG or things like that. I can understand the desire to make money from web-comics but...
The whole thing feels too forced and unoriginal....

The art is definitely getting better, but that'll happen with everything. Practise makes etc.
However, I have to agree, LFG WAS funnier at the start. I still love it, but it's gained story-line at the expense of the humour. I have no doubt whatsoever it'll regain the latter, but for now the story is more important. Though I do wish that was a bit faster-moving...so far as I can tell, the latest is just landing on an island and a literary reference. Not even a cliffhanger! What is the world coming to?
And for those who would criticise my critique, saying "don't like it, don't read it", I say "I say these things because I do like it, and reckon the authors would appreciate people saying what needs improvement, as well as 'I love this part of it...'. I know if I wrote a comic, I'd want to know what people think would make it better."
PS Though it may sound like it, I don't, in fact, believe my opinion to be the only one that matters. It just irritates me when people get their opinions put down because they go against the popular trend.
PPS I noticed the scar thing too
