Am I the only waiting in giddy anticipation for the 12th Book in the Wheel of time series, The Gathering Storm, by Brandon Sanderson and Robert Jordan?
If I am, don’t tell me. - Because I Can. |

The day it drops into my hands is the day nobody will see me for quite a while. And when they see me it will propably be sleep deprived and howling for the next book

I would be very excited for it if I ( a ) recalled the many intricacies of the first 11 books (or even character names, for that matter) or ( b ) wasn't in law school and had time to re-read them all in preparation for the newest.
...sleep deprived and howling for the next book... I haven't been keeping track of goings-ons, but last I heard this was supposed to be the last novel? *Edit* Scratch that, I think I'm remembering that the last book is divided into three books? That sounds right... |

For the unenlightened - Leigh Butler is doing a very entertaining re-read of WOT. She won't be done by TGS but it does help with remembering a lot of the details. Check it out on Tor's website:

You are not alone. I've had the countdown on my phone for months. I just finished a read through of the first 11 books (started in honor of book 12). I'm going to a midnight release party, and as soon as I get the book I am locking myself in my room and not coming out until I finish.

No, you are definitely not alone. I've been waiting for it since I finished knife of dreams, two day after it came out. I think I'm going to die from sheer anticipation.

You're not alone. I just started reading the series a few days ago - on the third book now - and am looking forward to the rest. It's all quite epic.

I had to register just so I could post this.
You are most definitely not alone. The anticipation for Gathering Storm is driving me batty. As soon as it drops I'm jumping in my beat-up old vehicle and driving to Borders. There is a very good chance I will attack any trespassers into my reading zone with a rusty chainsaw. I can only hope it lives up to the hype, and eagerly (nay: OBSESSIVELY), await the final installments of Jordan's masterpiece. |

im rather reluctant. am i the only one who thought the last few books were terrible? only read the beginning and ending pages of each chapter (as was needed). way too many characters doing a whole lot of nothing! hopefully the new guy will make them better. idk yo. thats my opinion for what its worth (or not worth, whatever works)

Yeah, so about that anticipation. The day the book comes out I begin a week long vatation from work begins. Been waiting for this since before Jordan passed away, and been keeping up with date changes to make changes to vacation as needed.
And in wait, busted out the WoT RPG and started a new campaign |

I've been insanely hyper for the last week waiting. My husband wanted to get it for me for a belated birthday present as it comes out three days after and I laughed at him for assuming that I didn't already have it pre-ordered. I've also arranged to have the day off so that I can wake up early and sit in my reading chair with that and a big pot of tea.

I preordered my copy months ago. I absolutely love this series. I just hope they maintain the writing style of Robert Jordan. To Tripandfall: I'm sure it's possible to read the first and last pages of each chapter and get the gyst, but then you miss out on all the subtleties that make his books so awesome. His ability to tell the same story from 6 different perspectives is a lost art. Most authors can only see their own perspective of events unfolding. And sometimes all that uselessness in one book becomes extremely important later on.
I'm going to try and read it slowly in anticipation of the next book! -------------------- FOR PONY

I am waiting TGS with baited breath. Everyone who has read it says it is paced like the earlier books in the series. Also from the spoilers I have read (couldn't help myself...) a lot of the plots that have been dangling for awhile get wrapped up.
So no, you are far from alone. I work .5 miles from a Borders and come 9AM next Tuesday I will be buying a copy of the book. |

I can definitely wait to read it. But only because the release is catching me while I am rereading the series. For the elevendy billionth time... Aww who am I kidding. I'm not coming to work for a week (so I can reread the whole series starting at New Spring) as soon as that cool book is in my hot little hands.
